About the role
The role will manage the Croydon Urban Room project; a physical and digital space for public participation; fostering meaningful connection between people and place; past, present and future.&nbsp;
We are looking for candidates with innovative, design-led and holistic approaches to public and stakeholder engagement, public programming, event &amp; space management and exhibition curation. Candidates should be independent, critical and creative thinkers and project managers with experience of developing and delivering public facing creative and cultural spaces and programmes across a range of scales, and audiences. Candidates should be confident negotiators and communicators in a public-facing context and have a good knowledge of space management and event production alongside marketing &amp; communications experience, graphic design, web and social media, and community outreach. In the manager position knowledge and experience of funding and bid writing, contract management, local business and local government support is essential.&nbsp;
An interest in the Croydon context, with some knowledge of the south London context and the current challenges and opportunities of town centres and high streets, spatial policy and urban design would be desirable.

This is your opportunity to help shape Old Oak and Park Royal, London’s largest Opportunity Area and one of the most exciting and ambitious regeneration projects in the UK. About the role
OPDC has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join our Planning Team as a Construction Monitoring Manager on a permanent contract. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Planning Enforcement and Compliance as a senior member of the team and will initially assist with the development of OPDC’s Code of Construction Practice alongside appointed consultants.&nbsp; This is a unique opportunity to shape how construction and development will be managed and monitored in one of London’s largest regeneration areas and ensure that resident’s amenity is protected while enabling the growth and delivering the homes and jobs in OPDC’s Local Plan. The successful candidate will also work with borough colleagues to bring forward a statistical information package to allow comprehensive tracking of key indicators for construction management within OPDC’s areas.&nbsp;
What your day will look like
The successful candidate will lead on a range of construction management issues in the planning process, from pre-application to condition stage, including as assessment of site sensitivity and ensuring that timely engagement with the host borough, stakeholders is integrated into planning decisions.&nbsp;&nbsp; The role also involves the undertaking comprehensive inspections of live sites with borough colleagues to assess construction practice against relevant policy and guidance.&nbsp;
Skills, knowledge and experience
To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:
Appropriate qualification in construction management and eligibility for membership of the Construction Industry Training Board (CIOB) together with a record of continuing professional development.
Demonstrable experience of construction management and monitoring preferably in a local authority setting.
Good understanding of the working environment of a local planning authority and Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC).&nbsp;
An understanding of the local, regional and national planning policy context and legislative framework, and construction monitoring standards and guidance.&nbsp;
Excellent IT skills and the ability to track and monitor construction impacts.&nbsp;

About The Role
A Senior Planner will help with the delivery of major sites; leading on complex and major planning applications, liaising with developers, applicants and senior officers, conducting negotiations and presenting applications to Planning Committee. The appointment will be commensurate with experience.
We would also consider a planner at the beginning of their career and offer a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience and to develop a strong foundation for a career within the Built Environment, determining a large number of householder and minor applications, as well as contributing to the overall work of the teams.
The posts require candidates who have a vision for developing the built environment to achieve the council’s aspirations, who have the confidence and capability to engage with developers, carry a caseload of major applications, and the ability and experience to work with less supervision in delivering the service.
About The Team You’ll Be Working In
Hounslow are looking for a Career Grade Planner to join their award-winning Development Management Team. The team are currently working on a wealth of planning applications critical to the social and economic wellbeing of the borough. We have high housing targets to achieve, new schools to place children in and need to create opportunities for employers who want to be in our well-located borough. This must be balanced against acting on the boroughs Climate Emergency and with Green Belt, listed buildings, conservation areas and River Thames frontage that need protecting. All this needs to be delivered while playing a crucial supporting role in delivering the boroughs partnerships and values.

Your Skills

<li>Able to carry a caseload of planning applications and appeals and determine these within set deadlines and in accordance with quality indicators. Able to work flexibly in a changing environment responding quickly to conflicting workloads and changing priorities. Able to identify the need for guidance from more senior staff</li>

The Role
As a Senior Compliance Officer, you will help us investigate and resolve alleged breaches of planning control.&nbsp; Sometimes these could be quite complex cases which will draw on your experience and knowledge of Planning legislation and dealing with sensitive and difficult situations.&nbsp; Don’t worry if some of these may be new to you, our Team Leader is here to support you too.
