The Community Wellbeing team at Guildford Borough Council has an exciting opportunity available for an enthusiastic playworker to join our popular Playrangers service. The Playranger service is looking for highly motivated and organised individuals who are able to advocate for and demonstrate the value and importance of good quality, outdoor play for children in the borough.&nbsp;
The&nbsp;Playrangers&nbsp;team&nbsp;is involved with&nbsp;the day-to-day delivery of the&nbsp;Playrangers&nbsp;service, providing accessible and challenging outdoor play opportunities in local parks and open spaces across the borough. Day-to-Day Duties&nbsp;
You will&nbsp;arrive at the&nbsp;depot to pick up the&nbsp;Playrangers&nbsp;van&nbsp;and head to&nbsp;one of the six sites. You will need to unload the play equipment from the van. An element of manual handling is needed.&nbsp;
The session will include&nbsp;monitoring&nbsp;the children’s&nbsp;behaviour,&nbsp;safeguarding&nbsp;and encouraging children to&nbsp;play freely and&nbsp;together.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Working hours will be outdoors and involve the direct delivery of play opportunities to children and young people&nbsp;in all weather.&nbsp;

The service currently covers a vast area, working across the whole of Derbyshire. Much of the work of The Outback is undertaken in the family homes of the children, their schools or local communities. Therefore, it is essential that applicants are confident to travel around the county and are also able to transport young people as required.Edge of Care/Preventing Family Breakdown – These are bespoke support packages which are agreed with allocated social workers in order to support specific targets that are identified through safeguarding plans or legal processes. The worker will work with the children and family carers, offering support and advice to achieve the identified targets. This could include the development of Positive Behaviour Support, supporting parenting skills, bedtime routines, developing communication systems, family relationships, developing interaction through play and leisure activities. Other work may include supporting introductions/transitions to other resources and services. Working with young people to offer support at The Outback or in the local community - This can include 1:1 or 2:1 work with young people with complex needs, this will often be with young people who present high levels of challenging or distressed behaviour.To support residential settings across the county as and when required. This role is central to ensuring that transport providers meet contractual requirements, relevant legislation and Council regulations, helping to deliver high-quality services for residents.You will monitor all contract and agreement arrangements with transport providers, ensuring full compliance with Conditions of Contract. This includes checking that vehicles are legally compliant and that staff working on vehicles hold valid official contractor badges. We currently have an opportunity for a Service Delivery Officer within the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)&nbsp; which also supports the Referral and Assessment Team on a permanent part time basis of 22.5 hours per week. The hours required are 9-5 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The role is rewarding, varied and fast paced; our main duties are to ensure that all referrals are processed and passed through to the MASH in a timely manner ensuring all statutory deadlines are met, the referrals can be made via email or phone and can come from all areas of the community from professionals and members of the public, these can be for Early Intervention support through to high risk child protection concerns.
As this team is the first point of contact for all areas of Children’s Services and the supports that are on offer, keys skills are required to include time management, flexibility, adaptability and attention to detail with good communication being the driving force behind why we can continue to provide a high level of support to an ever-expanding busy service.
We work closely with the MASH and Social Care teams ensuring we are available at often short notice to provide support for child protection meetings, with arranging and providing concise minutes within timescales, and general office administrative duties to include communication with families and professionals on case outcomes.
This is a hybrid position; office cover is required Monday to Friday on a rotational basis and the expectation is that at least 2 days per week are in the office with the remaining time working from home. The successful applicant will be expected to work mainly in the office for the first 2 weeks to familiarise themselves with work and the team.
We are looking for dynamic forward-thinking individual who is used to working to strict deadlines and performing under pressure as well as the ability to drive forward change and improve work processes.
Organisational and prioritisation skills are a must along with the ability to make decisions and deal with highly confidential information.
Full training and support will be given for this role.
