Are you passionate about helping young people flourish as they move into adult life? This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join our dedicated Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) service and work across both Children’s and Adults Social Care, shaping seamless, person‑centred transitions that put strengths, aspirations and outcomes at the heart of practice. You’ll be part of a collaborative, forward‑looking team that supports young people and their families through key milestones, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met while driving innovation and best practice across the system. You will contribute to a joined‑up pathway that spans services and legislation to deliver outstanding results for the residents of Barnsley.
What you’ll be doing
Leading holistic, strengths‑based assessments and support planning, coordinating multi‑agency input around education, health, care and community life. You’ll work confidently across Children’s and Adults services to reduce duplication and improve continuity of support.
Supporting young people typically aged 14–25, with increased involvement from 16 and targeted intervention from 17 onwards, so transitions are timely, proportionate and effective.
Applying and integrating key legislation in everyday practice, including the Care Act 2014, Children Act 1989, and Mental Capacity Act 2005, to safeguard rights and enable choice and control.
Working to our Adult Social Care Practice Framework—embedding strengths‑based approaches, outcome‑focused planning, risk enablement and Making Safeguarding Personal.
About you
You’re a qualified Social Worker (SWE‑registered) with a strong values base and a track record of delivering person‑centred, evidence‑informed practice. You can navigate complex systems, build constructive relationships with young people, families and professionals, and balance compassionate direct work with clear professional judgement. You’re skilled at translating legislation into practice, confident in multi‑agency contexts (including EHCP reviews and transition panels), and committed to co‑production and continuous improvement. You bring curiosity, resilience and reflection to your work—and you thrive in a team that learns together and shares successes.

Barnsley Music Service are seeking to recruit a Vocal Tutor to commence employment from w/c 23rd February 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The role involves:
