The Role:
This role will report into the Parks &amp; Open Spaces Contracts Manager and will identify, plan, manage and deliver a portfolio of projects to improve parks, play areas and green spaces. This includes, managing stakeholders, contracts, and budgets, working within legislation and policy to create safe, accessible, and high-quality outdoor areas for the public.&nbsp;The role will also support the policies, strategies and service improvement initiatives of the Parks &amp; Countryside team and the wider council.
Your role will involve:

<li>Identifying new parks, play area and green space improvement schemes.</li>
<li>Dealing with all aspects of the projects including the design and tendering process.</li>
<li>Managing project budgets.</li>
<li>Working collaboratively with a range of colleagues and stakeholders.</li>
<li>Attending site meetings and ensuring community engagement is carried out.</li>
<li>Assisting with enquiries and complaints.</li>
<li>Conducting park and playground inspections.</li>
<li>Producing project highlight reports and updates.</li>
</ul>

Overall Job Purpose:
The main purpose of the job is to provide a uniformed presence representing Arun District Council on the promenades and foreshores during the period from March to September. You will help promote education and understanding of waterside safety and the local environment. You will ensure compliance with the relevant byelaws by authorised means. React to issues and concerns that impact on the public safety as quickly and efficiently as possible. In some instance the inspectors must refer issues to the relevant authority and will at no time put themselves at risk. You will be a local information point for all seafront visitors. You will work at Bognor Regis or Littlehampton, as required by the Foreshore Officer. Please note that a full and clean driving licence is an essential requirement for all post-holders.

About the Role
This is a hands-on, operational role focused on supporting the safe, effective and welcoming management of the borough’s countryside sites. Working under the direction of the Countryside Officer (Operations), you will help deliver the infrastructure and facilities that enable high-quality recreation across a diverse and expanding portfolio of sites.
You will oversee day-to-day maintenance and site operations, support and supervise Duty Rangers, and work alongside staff and volunteers to ensure tasks are delivered consistently and efficiently across multiple locations. The role combines practical, on-site problem solving with coordination of planned maintenance, asset monitoring and contractor-led works.
Working closely with colleagues, you will help ensure that play areas, paths, car parks, public facilities and visitor information are well maintained and presented to a high standard. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of recreation services by supporting events and commercial activity, and by feeding into longer-term planning for infrastructure, accessibility and visitor experience.
This role suits someone who enjoys balancing practical outdoor work with organisation and coordination, and who is comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day delivery while working within a clear management structure in a public-facing countryside setting.
