The Role

Role Overview
We're looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors and wants to play a key part in keeping our country park welcoming and safe for visitors. In this role you'll support our Ranger team by opening the park for visitors, keeping facilities clean and tidy, and carrying out essential checks - including livestock checks using an All-Terrain Vehicle. You'll help create a positive experience for everyone who visits, working in nature as part of a friendly team and contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the park.

Accountabilities
<ul>
<li>Contribute to the daily operation of the parks by ensuring all car park vehicle access points to the park are open at the times publicised to the general public and also securely closed when the site is closed.</li>
<li>Assist with the efficiency of the operation by ensuring all facilities including toilets, buildings and storage areas are secure and designated areas are available as needed.</li>
<li>Assist with the efficiency of the operation by ensuring that all facilities are cleaned and maintained including toilets, litter picking, and bin clearance are undertaken.</li>
<li>Support general operational activities as required.</li>
<li>Complete relevant checks such as Health and Safety checks within the park and completing all relevant paperwork in line with procedures.</li>
<li>Engage with customers to consider and improve the visitor's experience; dealing with issues and problems involving visitors that occur within a Country Park.</li>
<li>Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.</li>
<li>Any other duties as reasonably requested commensurate with the level of the role and responsibilities.</li>

The Experience You Will Bring
<ul>
<li>Educated to RQF Level 2 (GCSE or BTech), or equivalent by experience.</li>
<li>Experience of working with members of the public or customers delivering excellent customer service.</li>
<li>Evidence of good communication skills with the ability to deliver information and advice.</li>
<li>Experience of working within a team and supporting team members to deliver local objectives.</li>
<li>Experience of working in facilities maintenance or the outdoors is desirable.</li>

Are you up for a challenge? We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to work as part of the Dartford Borough Council Park Ranger Team within the highly respected, busy multi-functional Council Waste, Public Realm &amp; Enforcement Services section.
This is a uniformed role, working as part of a small team. Your focus will be on the Dartford Parks, other children’s playgrounds and open spaces and patrolling the Buccaneer Bay playground in Central Park, to a rota with other Park Rangers / Officers.
You will provide guardianship, security, reassurance and assistance to the public and be the eyes and ears of the Council and Police partners providing a friendly public face for the public. You will enforce byelaws and other relevant legislation including the issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices for offending behaviour such as dog fouling, littering, fly tipping, fly grazing and behaviour contained within the town’s Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO). You will be required to assist in dealing with unauthorised encampments, the use of surveillance cameras and public events that occur throughout the year within the Borough’s parks and open spaces. This is a physically active role which involves patrolling parks and open spaces on foot, the moving and siting of various items of heavy equipment. You will provide a reassuring presence and assistance to park users, prevent and deter anti-social behaviour.
Occasional evening and Bank Holiday working will be required, for which an allowance is paid.
Patrolling is both on foot and with use of 4x4 vehicles to move between sites as necessary. You may be required to attend at Court if and when required. Sefton Council have a vacancy for a Coastal Steward Ranger post within Green Sefton’s Land Management Team.
Green Sefton provides Sefton’s communities with a clean, green Borough including beaches, nature reserves, countryside, municipal golf courses, parks, play areas and other greenspaces, which include specially protected sites and landscapes, benefitting the health and wellbeing of residents, visitors, investors, and nature.
Applicants will be expected to work safely at all times, undertaking wide ranging patrol, stewarding, security and habitat management functions, primarily at coastal and countryside locations during the summer (April – September), but will retain a boroughwide responsibility addressing issues across the suite of sites within the Green Sefton protfolio.
Acting as an ambassador for Green Sefton at all times, and focussing on the beaches during the summer, the work includes but is not limited to working outdoors, lifting and carrying, dealing with the public especially where behaviour changes are needed, permit checking, challenging antisocial behaviour, using tools and equipment and handling monies, conservation management work and habitat improvements, cleansing and general maintenance duties where appropriate across Green Sefton's portfolio. Close working partnerships with external agencies will be required; for example, with neighbouring landowners, Beach Lifeguards, and emergency services.
Applicants need to hold a full clean driving licence. Recording and reporting of daily tasks, site visits and incidents will be an important part of the duties.
The work base will normally be Ainsdale. Duties may vary in location and in accordance with business needs, e.g. working on different sites frequently. A uniform will be provided, which must be worn and presentable at all times.
Regular weekend and evening work is required as part of an established rota with other staff. Pro rata will mean working for 26 weekends out of 52 – 2/3 during the summer and 1/3 during the winter. Summer work (April – September) will be afternoon – evening periods. Annual leave is 28 days after the first month worked and this post is subject to the Council’s probation policy for 6 months from commencement of employment.
Previous experience of working in similar countryside management roles, working in enforcement settings and strong ambassadorial and verbal communication skills are highly desirable.
Working late pattern during summer, and 2/3 weekends in summer and 1/3 weekends in winter.
This is a permanent appointment.

The role is to conduct health checks, inductions, run synrgy classes and prescribe safe and effective programmes for member and users.&nbsp; To provide a presence on the gym floor and be available at all times to assist customers with their exercise programmes and ensure that they are using the equipment correctly. The positions will also involve membership sales and retention, actively promoting and encouraging customers and visitors to join as full paying members.&nbsp; Member interaction and retention initiatives are key indicators within our business, and you will need to demonstrate skills in these areas.&nbsp; The ideal candidates will have the ability to teach small group classes.
Qualifications 
This position requires a Level 2 Gym Instructor Certificate, with the desire to work toward Level 3 and a current first aid at work certificate would be desirable.&nbsp;
