Children's Home Carer - Waking Nights - Beechside Children's Home

The Rough Sleeping Outreach team providers a vital service in Portsmouth to support and engage with people who may have become homeless and have resorted to sleeping rough in the city. The Outreach team goes out at different times of day, including early in the morning, to look for people sleeping rough and to help them away from the streets. The team's priority is to seek to engage with rough sleepers and check their immediate health and wellbeing, gather information about their situation, and provide further advice, support and signposting to appropriate services in the city - including Portsmouth City Council's Rough Sleeping Hub in Queen Street. People who have slept rough might find it hard to trust others because of negative experiences; it's crucial to build up trust and get to know people individually. Rough Sleeping Outreach Workers will therefore take a person-centred and trauma-informed approach to working with any individuals who may be rough sleeping, and make use of the strong partnerships with other organisations in Portsmouth to help them access accommodation and support, such as physical and mental health services, drug and alcohol services, legal support and advocacy. Reporting to the Senior Rough Sleeping Outreach Worker, you will be part of a small team which will provide the Rough Sleeping Outreach service within the city. The team will manage a caseload of clients who are known to be sleeping rough in Portsmouth. These cases are likely to require a range of interventions as part of a tailored package of support which could include assisting with benefit claims, GP registrations, exploring housing options and engaging in recovery support for addiction.

Reporting to the Rough Sleeping Operational Manager, you will be responsible for leading a small team of Rough Sleeping Hub Support Workers which will staff the Hub, providing rough sleepers access to the facilities and services offered. Substance Use Practitioner - Young Person service

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Portsmouth City Councils Housing Renewals service, which forms part of the Private Sector Housing Team. You will work proactively within the Housing Renewals team’s Home Improvement Agency service to support applicants through the adaptation process. Your role will include: •	Reviewing Occupational Therapist referrals and recommendations for adaptations, typically the removal of a bath and replacement with a level access shower. •	Visiting applicants’ in their home to assist with completing grant application forms to fund the required adaptations, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. •	Communicating with the grant applicant and the Occupational Therapist (OT) about the process and the required adaptations •	Carrying out basic visual surveys—typically of bathrooms—and recording relevant notes based on the recommendations of the Occupational Therapist. •	Using these notes to prepare a simple plan and specification for the required adaptations using standard templates. •	Contact contractors to obtain quotes for the work. •	Track the progress of the works, communicating with the contractor and the grant applicant where necessary, and check that the adaptations are completed in-line with the specification. •	Complete forms to confirm the adaptations are finalised and meet the specification, and to arrange for the payment of the grant to be processed by others. Based at Portsmouth International Port (PIP), and reporting to the Terminal Supervisor, the role works within the freight related areas of the Port, both within gate houses and outside within all areas of the Port. The main duties are: •	To control the entry and exit of vehicles to and from the Port via the site’s freight gates and as and where directed, elsewhere. This may include working alone or as part of a team. •	To ensure that all export freight is processed in accordance with customer expectations. •	To provide security services as required by PIP including but not limited to searching, passes, data processing and site rounds, this may include working alone or as part of a team. •	To manage, marshal/park and monitor traffic and freight units on site. •	To operate the Ports freight software solutions and systems to fulfil the requirements of the role. •	To assist and support the Terminal Supervisor as directed in their routine tasks. •	Required to be proficient in all skills and competencies needed to carry out the duties of the post. •	Required to be proficient, to obtain the training specification for the post of Terminal Supervisor within an agreed period. •	Provide proactive liaison with all Port Users: shipping companies, statutory authorities, contractors, etc. as required to enable the smooth operation of the Freight Gate complex. •	Required to comply with all PIP and Portsmouth City Council policies and procedures including all current quality standards. •	Undertake any other tasks that may reasonably be allocated by PIP. •	Deliver a sufficient level of service as expected by Portsmouth City Council and PIP. •	Where required, drive Port/PCC vehicles as part of your duties. •	You would also be expected to play an active part in promoting a safe and secure working environment. The Social Housing Sector has seen considerable change in the last 2 years with the addition of new and revised regulations including a new set of consumer standards. Portsmouth Homes is undertaking a programme of change to respond to the new environment and changes in expectations from our tenants and leaseholders. The Housing Officer role can be complex and requires the ability to work with changing priorities and be flexible in approach. This role is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of housing management services to a dedicated patch serving approximately 400 homes. The role provides generic housing management services including anti-social behaviour management, arrears management including debt and benefit advice, void management and lettings and general tenancy management ensuring income maximisation, efficient letting of homes and that tenants receive great customer service throughout their tenancy. The Housing Officer role is a fully generic role delivering a comprehensive housing management service to a cohort of Portsmouth Homes tenants. The role is predominantly reactive, to help support and empower tenants to be able to sustain and maintain their tenancies and live their best lives, whilst feeling safe and secure in their homes and communities. Responsibility starts with the viewing of an empty property, with prospective tenants, and the need to ensure that the property meets their Housing Need and is suitable in terms of other factors. Support is provided at the beginning of a new tenancy, ensuring that the new tenants understand their legal obligations and expectations of them as a tenant and good neighbour

You will be based at any one of our Area Housing Offices working as part of a Repairs team. You will carry out a wide range of duties across our varied 15,000 housing stock, together with our asset portfolio of corporate operational, commercial and community assets including schools. You will predominantly be attending day to day repairs, updating stock data, evaluating and diagnosing what work is required, assessing the best options to carry out the work and issuing response repairs. Skills: You need to: 1. Be able to demonstrate sufficient relevant experience and knowledge of general day to day response repairs in a housing or commercial environment. 2. Have good building construction technology and building pathology knowledge together with the ability to evaluate and diagnose what work is required, assess the best options to carry out the work and issuing response repairs and advising others. 3. Have a knowledge of building related legislation as appropriate to the role and be able to apply as necessary. 4. Have knowledge and experience of construction related health &amp; safety legislation knowledge generally and be able to apply specifically the working at height regulations, and Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. 5. Practical surveying skills that can be demonstrated; specifically, be able to carry out stock data and measured surveys, accurately recording stock data as appropriate. 6. Demonstrating you can manage a contractor using a contract, negotiating contractual matters and resolution of disputes with contractors. 7. Have knowledge and experience of cost control techniques and be able to demonstrate commercial awareness when undertaking cost estimates for larger repair work, exercise financial control when managing work and assess value for money for work undertaken when auditing completed repairs. Demonstrate analytical skills to be able to interrogate, analyse and evaluate previous repair information 8. Have relevant knowledge and experience of all Microsoft packages and demonstrate practical IT skills using Excel spreadsheets or Word when writing reports or letters and be capable of using various other software packages with appropriate training to accurately update data as part of undertaking the surveying role. 9. Have planning skills and demonstrate the ability to be organised and methodical when undertaking inspections to ensure effective time management. 10. Have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrate the ability to be a good communicator developing relationships with clients and customers, understanding their aspirations, managing expectations and ensuring that excellent communication occurs to ensure that they are fully informed regarding the repairs and maintenance of their assets, particularly as most repairs and maintenance work is undertaken in occupation whilst our residents are living in their homes or commercial buildings are operational. 11. The Money Adviser role provides a proactive, needs-led service to Portsmouth Homes residents and their households, focusing on complex financial, welfare benefit, and debt issues. The aim is to help residents sustain their tenancies, improve financial resilience, and complement the support offered by generic Housing Officers. Money Advisers work collaboratively within Housing Offices and the wider community, offering specialist expertise in welfare benefits, debt management, and budgeting. You will be required to manage your own caseload, assisting tenants with complex situations requiring specialist intervention, such as mandatory reconsiderations, appeals, Debt Relief Orders, and bankruptcy processes. Skills: •	You must be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of welfare benefits and local and national policies and legislation regarding Money Debt and Welfare Benefit advice. About the Service – Building Your FuturesBuilding Your Futures is an aspirational team who are passionate about children and young people's futures. The team are creative, and child focussed and strive for positive outcomes for the children we care for.The Building Your Futures Team supports children and young people who are looked after in foster care, cared for by connected carers or family, and specialist care, and where there is a plan to support children Going Home (reunification). The team, work alongside a wide range of professionals and multi-agencies to support effective care planning for the children we care for.
