This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented and ambitious professional Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our friendly, committed and highly regarded Law and Governance Service. This is a busy statutory officer role in which you’ll be delivering advice with legally binding consequences to the council and schools. You’ll be critical to developing and guiding the organisations strategy for fostering a data protection culture. 
 
You’ll need expertise in data management, national and European data protection laws and practices as well as an in-depth understanding of both GDPR and DPA. You’ll need to apply your knowledge across a range of work areas from quick fire advice and initial triage of data breach reports, to developing policies, completing DPIAs, facilitating Data Sharing Agreements to list just a few. To be able to do this you’ll hold one or more technical qualifications in data protection but your experience and ability to apply your knowledge to on the ground situations is what’s most important to us. 
 
We are looking for an individual who is accustomed to working at pace and able to multitask. You’ll need to be an exceptional communicator who can deliver clear advice and build solid relationships with all levels of officers and members. We are looking for a Litigation Lawyer to join our Litigation and Public Law Team to manage solely disrepair Claims. It will be a one-year fixed term contract.  The work will focus on disrepair, Awaab’s Law and related legislation to disrepair matters. You will be responsible for a challenging and complex caseload; you will be line managed by Senior Lawyers and supported by legal officers and paralegals in the team. &nbsp;The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor, or barrister with three years post qualification experience, able to demonstrate experience in managing disrepair litigation.
