Erewash Borough Council is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and community‑focused Empty Homes Officer to help bring vacant homes back into use and improve the quality of housing across the borough.
As the council’s Empty Homes Officer you will play the leading role in identifying, investigating, monitoring and reducing the number of empty homes within Erewash, focusing on those that have been empty the longest. Working closely with property owners, landlords, partner agencies and internal teams, you will support and encourage the return of empty properties to occupation and, through this work, increase the supply of homes and improve neighbourhoods. Activities can include developing action plans, negotiating voluntary agreements with owners and preparing cases for enforcement action.
You will need:

<ul>
<li>HND or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g. Environmental Health, Building Studies, Planning, Housing, Construction) equivalent professional certification or significant relevant experience</li>
<li>Detailed knowledge of legislation and guidance relevant to all aspects of empty homes</li>
<li>Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing including expressing technical terms in plain English</li>
<li>Ability to evidence excellent interpersonal skills, including negotiation</li>

You will need:

Housing Options Advisor - Home Visits 

We are looking to appoint a Sheltered Housing Support Officer to our Independent Living Team. South Derbyshire District Council has a housing stock of circa 3000 properties of which a third are currently designated as sheltered. We are aiming for excellence and invite you to be integral to that process. The Independent Living Service provides help and assistance around the clock, 365 days of the year to customers who live independently in their own homes. The Independent living service is in essence two teams. At the Careline Control Centre a team of experienced operators provide a 24-hour monitoring and emergency call service for vulnerable adults who live within the district. This team works closely with the Careline Support Co-ordinators Team who provide a regular routine visiting service and a 24-hour emergency response service throughout the district. We are currently looking to develop the service and wish to appoint a part time Sheltered Housing Support Officer who will have the commitment and flexibility to ensure this valuable service is delivered to the high standards our customers expect and deserve. As a Sheltered Housing Support Officer, you will be guaranteed a minimum of 20 hours per week providing cover for members of either the Careline or Careline Support Co-ordinator teams. Due to the nature of the service, you may be required to work nights, weekends and other unsociable hours. To be successful in this role you will need to be a self-motivated and flexible individual who has the ability to work to high customer care standards with minimum supervision. About The Role
As a Housing Standards Officer you will be joining the dedicated Private Sector Housing Team.&nbsp; Your primary focus will be ensuring the quality and standard of privately rented housing in Charnwood.&nbsp; You’ll do this by responding to complaints about disrepair from private tenants, building good relationships with landlords and tenants, completing inspections and reports. We’re committed to your personal and professional development and we’ll offer training to you if you need it.
This is a hybrid role and we’re flexible to your preference on the amount of time that you work from home or from the office.&nbsp; The role includes on-site visits and inspections in the Charnwood area.
