Are you ready to inspire and lead a dynamic policy team across two councils at an exciting time for local government?
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Strategy, Policy and Insight manager to join the team at Guildford and Waverley Borough Councils. This is a great opportunity to build and shape teams that will drive strategic planning, policy development, and research activities across both councils, while also working on high-profile policy matters like local government reorganisation.
In this role you will act as the lead officer on strategy and policy, insight and intelligence, integrated service planning, performance and risk management. You will manage, develop and deliver an effective strategy, policy and insight function, working closely with key stakeholders to develop and articulate organisational priorities, and develop strategies, policies and partnerships to achieve organisational objectives.
The successful candidate will be proactive and self-motivated, with demonstrative experience of working successfully in a complex public sector policy and/or insight environment, delivering a range of strategy, policy and insight initiatives. You will hold substantial knowledge of the local government policy environment, strategic and corporate planning, performance management and insight. Your ability to manage teams effectively, build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and communicate clearly and effectively will be key to your success, as will the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
The role is based in Guildford and Waverley’s offices in Guildford and Godalming. Hybrid working is also available.
The role is offered at 37 hours per week on a full time, permanent basis.

<h2>About the role</h2>An exciting, fixed term, full-time specialist practitioner position has become available. One of the posts will likely sit entirely within the multi-disciplinary Alternative Provision Taskforce and the other split between this taskforce and the BHISS Social, Emotional and Mental Health Team (SEMH), which currently operates as the city’s behaviour outreach service for 0–16-year-olds. &nbsp;BHISS-SEMH offers support, advice, trainings as well as direct in-school interventions for children whose behaviours are likely to mean they are at risk of suspension. Our key aims are to reduce fixed term suspensions; maintain children’s mainstream placement as well as develop colleagues’ capacity to manage challenge. We also offer a variety of bespoke trainings and forums for staff, both 1-1 and small groups, to discuss challenge as well as devise clear programmes of support for referred children. The ability to ably represent the team at multi-disciplinary meetings across the city is vital.&nbsp;BHISS is located at the Portslade Hub. Neighbourhood Services are looking for a Cemetery Officer to liaise with funeral directors in organising bookings for burials in our four cemeteries within the borough.
Duties to include take calls and answering emails from funeral directors and bereaved family members in organising funerals.&nbsp; To regularly visit the cemeteries in the borough and liaise with cemetery staff prior to burial (Driving Licence is essential for site visits).&nbsp; Arranging permits for memorial masons to install headstones and memorials.&nbsp; To update the cemetery database with historical data from the burial books and grave grants. To facilitate the arranging of memorial testing for all cemeteries and burial grounds every five years. To review the Cemetery website and update on a regular basis.
