We have an exciting opportunity available for an Overseas Arrivals Accommodation Co-ordinator to join our Housing Needs and Options Service, here at Wokingham Borough Council. This exciting new post will provide strategic direction for migration in the borough and will be responsible for coordinating a Council wide response to this increasing demand. This post will identify opportunities to prevent and relief homelessness for this cohort by coordinating bids for funding opportunities and effectively managing existing migration budgets to ensure that preventative measures are put into place that deliver quantifiable outcomes in service delivery.
The Role
As the Overseas Arrivals Accommodation Co-ordinator, you will work closely with senior officers in the Housing Needs and Options Service, as well as with other senior officers across the Council in key areas including Housing, Education, Transport and Community Safety. You will also work closely with the Voluntary and Community Sector.&nbsp;
Please note this is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Your main responsibilities will include:

<li>Using data and intelligence to forecast migration numbers and future demands on Council services and to produce regular reports to inform the Corporate Leadership Team.</li>
<li>Undertake research to inform policy development and best practice.</li>
<li>Identify and assess potential risks associated with migration pressures, including financial and operational risks.</li>
<li>To manage migration budgets and migration related funding streams, ensuring that allocated budgets deliver preventative measures which lead to cost avoidance and long-term financial sustainability.</li>
<li>Apply project management principles including coordinating project meetings, producing project plans and risk registers; lead on all projects, strategies and policies relating to migration.</li>
<li>Represent the Council in regional forums and partnerships on migration and in discussions with central government bodies, advocating for local needs and ensuring alignment with national policies.</li>

About You
We are looking for an organised and motivated individual with an in-depth knowledge of migration, the asylum process and homelessness legislation. The ideal candidate will have:

You will manage a caseload collaborating with people and family or friend carers, undertake strengths-based assessments and reviews, identifying eligible needs and personalised outcomes.In this role you will be required to undertake strengths-based assessments, applying relevant legislation and utilising Occupational Therapy skills and knowledge to develop and implement a plan of support, aimed at improving wellbeing and delivering outcomes for people. You will be working within a supportive environment to apply your occupational therapy skills to develop and implement support plans, aimed at improving wellbeing and delivering outcomes, including utilising community assets, and ensuring that eligible needs are met.You will manage a caseload collaborating with people and family or friend carers, undertake strengths-based assessments and reviews, identifying eligible needs and personalised outcomes.The successful applicant will possess the ability to communicate effectively, have compassion and empathy to support people who access our services, and be able to manage their own health and well-being due to the emotional demands of the role. You will have a good theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of occupational therapy, and a good understanding of the necessity of working with partnership agencies including health, housing, education and statutory, voluntary and independent agencies. There will also be a requirement for you to work flexibly using your own initiative where appropriate to support people, carers, and families.This role requires travel throughout the County, including to locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport, council pool cars and pool bikes are available. Additionally, it involves complex physical interventions, such as transporting, demonstrating, and using community equipment.Experience and SkillsKey Skills (please cover with examples within your application as these are the short-listing criteria):<ul>
<li>Experience of working proactively as a member of the team to make an accurate strengths-based assessment of needs and negotiate and implement effective plans and outcomes (in line with relevant legislation), working in partnership with carers, colleagues, and a variety of external agencies to meet people's outcomes.</li>
<li>Experience of applying a risk enablement approach and using evidence-based practice.</li>
<li>Experience of analysis and interpretation of people related information and data to prioritise needs and formulate plans for intervention and service provision.</li>
<li>Experience of contributing to safeguarding enquiries.</li>
<li>Ability to supervise and develop the capabilities of unregistered practitioners, and to mentor and coach students and apprentices.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a range of stakeholders to provide clear advice and guidance and interventions.</li>
<li>Ability to recognise the limits of own accountability and responsibility, know when to seek appropriate support, advice and supervision, and to prioritise and organise work and meet agreed performance expectations.</li>

About the Role: We work with people with complex mental health difficulties, people with forensic histories, carers and families, and we have a re-enablement service and hoarding service within our team. We seek creative ways to work together to meet the needs of people who use our services together. The Mental Health Social Care Team aims to actively promote wellbeing and independence, working with people with complex mental health difficulties in partnership with health colleagues. Supporting people to retain or regain their skills and confidence by using existing and new support networks, Technology Enabled Care (TEC), equipment and short-term interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Provide high-quality support and coordination of care services for adults with mental health needs.</li>
<li>Work collaboratively with service users, families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams to develop and implement personalised care plans.</li>
<li>Assess, monitor, and review the needs of individuals to ensure appropriate services are provided.</li>
<li>Advocate for service users, ensuring their voice is heard and their rights are respected.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate records and reports in line with legal and organisational requirements.</li>
<li>Working to undertake assessments, provide care plans and meet the needs of adults with mental heath needs.</li>
<li>To undertake reviews and make amendments to care plans of adults with mental health needs.</li>
<li>Experience working with people with mental health difficulties and or complex needs.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
You will hold a caseload of people with mental health difficulties and due the nature of the work you will need to have a good understanding of risk management; managing yourself in difficult environments; flexible and able to analyse varied information or situations to produce solutions.
 You will work within the legal framework provided by the statute, guidance, policies, and procedures. This role offers flexible working arrangements, including remote working options. However, applicants must be within commuting distance of Reading as site visits are an essential part of the role.
