The Role:&nbsp;
As a Senior Planning Officer you will have the opportunity to become involved in varied and challenging casework focusing on larger housing and commercial applications, as well as providing support and advice to both colleagues in other departments and Elected Members to deliver the Council’s priorities. You will also be required to provide excellent pre-application advice to applicants, developers and architects.
Ideally you will have experience of not only managing a casework of challenging planning applications, but have also been involved in negotiating s106 agreements and presenting at Committees.&nbsp; Experience of hearings and public inquiry appeal work is also preferable.
The Council receives a broad variety of proposals across the Borough, with wide ranging opportunities for development, along with many high-level constraints providing interesting challenges for decision making.

What we are looking for:
You should possess enthusiasm, be well motivated and have excellent communication skills. You should possess a relevant degree and an RTPI accredited Post Graduate Degree in Planning. Eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) would also be desirable.
You must be able to demonstrate a high level of experience as a Planner working within a busy Development Management environment, have a high degree of autonomy, independently managing your own workload whilst positively engaging with the wider team and Borough Councillors.
Experience of acting as a witness at public inquiry would also be desirable.

The Civil Enforcement team has recently expanded so we have a number of new opportunities to join us.
If you possess good communication skills and are well organised with a diplomatic approach, then you could have just the right qualities to undertake the CEO role. You will be based at the Council Offices in Kings Hill but you will work across various locations within the Borough; and as well as assisting members of the public, you’ll patrol parking areas, monitor ticket machines and issue Penalty Charge Notices.
A full UK driving licence, and the ability to work well as part of a team, are essential as are your excellent customer service skills. Our Civil Enforcement Officers represent the public face of the Council, therefore it is essential that you possess a courteous, helpful and confident manner.
Patrols are carried out on foot and in vehicles, you will use a hand held capture device, make concise notes and deal tactfully with members of the public. The job involves weekend and evening working on a shift basis.
You will assist in continuing to provide a safe roadside environment which is our priority, we prevent dangerous and inconsiderate parking, which will help assist traffic flow, improve access to homes and businesses, and keep public transport on the move all over our Borough.

We are now looking to recruit a qualified Practice Manager to manage and oversee the work of the Early Help practitioners and lead the way in creating bespoke and innovative interventions that will help to support families across the continuum of need in the Family Help Team 1. You will be responsible for managing a cohort of eight Early Help practitioners, providing good quality supervision, case directions and support. You will also oversee the throughput of work undertaken by Early Help Practitioners as well as linking in with social workers to provide a seamless service to children and families.

This is an exciting time to join the Medway Safeguarding Team as we have recently changed our service delivery model from three safeguarding teams to one overall safeguarding team. We are also expanding the size of the team and are currently recruiting Social Workers to join the service.Please note: This role is open to qualified social workers only and is not open for newly qualified students seeking to complete their ASYE.Working in collaboration with the Senior Social Workers, Team Managers and other senior colleagues’, successful candidates will be required to practice as safeguarding social workers to support Medway Council in fulfilling its statutory duties in relation to safeguarding adults, as prescribed by relevant legislation and codes of practice. The successful candidates will need to develop and maintain a high level of skill, expertise, and up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and good practice in order to provide support and advice to others in relation to statutory interventions. You will also need to maintain an awareness of changes in theories, legislation, and Medway Council policies, local and agency practices, in order to disseminate knowledge and contribute to the delivery of a high standard safeguarding service.Alongside the Designated Senior Officer, successful candidates will be required to undertake the triaging of safeguarding Concerns and competently assess multiple and complex risks. You will have excellent knowledge of Making Safeguarding Personal principles with the ability to apply these in practice.
