    About the Team

Lambeth’s Transport Strategy Team is an ambitious, multidisciplinary team shaping the future of transport and public space across one of London’s most diverse and dynamic boroughs.

We develop transport policy, lead innovative programmes and use evidence to design and deliver projects that make Lambeth’s streets safer, greener, more accessible and more inclusive. Our work covers a wide range of areas, including active travel, road danger reduction, public transport, micro mobility, electric vehicles, freight, parking policy and the future use of the kerbside.

This is a high-performing and collaborative team working on complex, high-profile projects that can have a direct and lasting impact on residents, businesses and visitors.

    Our approach is:

    • Evidence-led, while remaining open to new ideas
    • Strategic, ambitious and focused on delivery
    • Creative and willing to challenge established approaches
    • Collaborative across disciplines, services and organisations
    • Centred on improving outcomes for Lambeth’s diverse communities

Data is fundamental to how we work. We use transport, movement, safety, environmental and operational data to understand problems, develop policy, design interventions and evaluate whether our projects are achieving their intended outcomes.

We are looking for people who are curious, adaptable and comfortable working in an environment where priorities can move quickly. You will be encouraged to think creatively, test new approaches and help the team turn complex evidence into clear decisions and ambitious action.

    About the Role

Use data to shape the future of transport in Lambeth

This role will act as a data lead within the Transport Strategy Team, helping to ensure that our policies, programmes and investment decisions are supported by robust, accessible and meaningful evidence.

You will work across a varied portfolio of ambitious transport projects, bringing together data from different sources to identify trends, understand transport challenges and evaluate the impact of our interventions.

This is not simply a reporting role. You will be expected to think strategically about what the evidence means, identify where further investigation is needed and help colleagues use data to develop creative and practical solutions.

    You will:

    • Lead the development and coordination of transport data, monitoring and evaluation across the team
    • Analyse complex datasets and translate findings into clear insights, recommendations and compelling narratives
    • Develop dashboards, maps, reports and other tools that make evidence accessible to technical and non-technical audiences
    • Establish proportionate and robust monitoring frameworks for major transport policies, programmes and projects
    • Identify emerging trends, risks and opportunities and advise colleagues on their strategic implications
    • Support the development of business cases, funding bids, strategies and senior decision-making reports
    • Work with project teams to define success measures and evaluate whether interventions are delivering their intended outcomes
    • Improve the quality, consistency and accessibility of transport data held across the Council
    • Explore new datasets, technologies and analytical techniques that could improve how the team understands and manages the transport network
    • Build productive relationships with colleagues, consultants, operators, Transport for London and other external partners

    You will bring:

    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work confidently with complex or imperfect data
    • Experience of turning evidence into clear conclusions and practical recommendations
    • An understanding of monitoring, evaluation, data quality and analytical assurance
    • The ability to communicate technical findings clearly through reports, presentations, visualisations and briefings
    • Strong strategic thinking and an ability to connect detailed analysis with wider policy objectives
    • The confidence to question assumptions, identify gaps and propose new approaches
    • The ability to manage competing priorities and respond constructively when circumstances change
    • An interest in transport, cities, public policy, sustainability or the use of data to improve public services

    You are:

    • Curious, creative and motivated by solving difficult problems
    • Dynamic and comfortable thinking on your feet
    • Proactive, organised and willing to take ownership
    • Able to see both the detail

    Salary range

    • £40,404 - £47,925 per year
