Environmental Health Manager - Private Sector Housing Team
Hours: 37 Hours per week
Salary: SK18 - £52,119 per annum (plus an additional market supplement payment per annum)
Contract: Permanent
The post-holder will provide clear leadership and guidance to the private sector housing and disabled facilities grants teams who provide frontline operational services to the residents.
The post holder will act as an ambassador for the Council, engaging with our communities and meeting customer requirements while ensuring focus upon the priorities of the council.
The post- holder will be responsible for leading the team and supporting the team to use all tools and powers at their disposal to achieve this, drawing expertise from the team and other partner agencies where required.
The primary focus of this role is to undertake the following:
- Support the team in delivering the Council’s private sector housing enforcement functions (which includes undertaking housing inspections, making assessments using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and inspecting and licensing houses in multiple occupation and caravan sites); and compliance with the Renters Rights Act 2025.
- Oversee delivery of the duties in relation to Empty Homes function, applying a multi-disciplinary approach to bringing private sector homes back into use.
- Support the team to provide general advice to the public about the options that are available, as detailed in the Housing Grants Assistance Policy, to help them to retain independence;
- Support the team to process Disabled Facilities Grant and other discretionary applications as per the councils Housing Grants Assistance Policy and other procedures;
- Approval of grant funding applications and other associated records as submitted by the DFG Officers.
