We are currently offering an exciting and challenging opportunity for a legal property professional to work within an in-house team to provide legal property support and advice on the operational management of the Council’s property portfolio. You will be involved in a wide variety of legal work including advise on property and land law: drafting all types of legal documents in respect of property and land transactions, including leases licences, development agreements, s.106, loan and grant agreements and similar agreements and dealing with statutory designation of land such as Rights of Way, Sites of Importance for Nature Conservancy (SINC’s) &amp; Local Nature Reserves (LNR’s), Dog Control Orders.
You will need to be a qualified Solicitor and have experience within property related matters. Experience of working within a local authority environment would be desirable.&nbsp; You will also need to deliver a high level of service and be able to manage your own case load, acting on your own initiative. Your technical skills will be complimented by your professionalism, enthusiasm and autonomy.

Job Summary

We are looking to appoint a highly driven, talented and experienced educational professional to lead on the Council’s strategic school improvement and inclusion agenda. &nbsp;You will provide the Council’s strategic leadership on school improvement and inclusion, with an emphasis upon ensuring that the Local Authority is providing ambitious and relevant learning experiences for all of our children and young people. You will fulfil Blaenau Gwent Council’s statutory responsibilities for education and maintain effective relationships with Headteachers, education leaders, the EAS and Estyn. Using robust data, you will hold schools to account for their performance and ensure that schools take action to address areas for concern and drive continuous improvement.
As a member of the Children, Young People and Families Leadership Team, you will contribute to the formulation of its overall strategy and play a key role in setting improvement priorities and holding the team to account for their performance. You will work closely with Elected Members, reporting on the performance of schools on a regular basis to the Council through its professional and political arrangements.

Our team provides an excellent service to adoptive families across the region and we are committed to continuous improvement through raising standards and improving outcomes for children and families. You will be involved in providing a child-centred, outcome-focused adoption service to all those involved in and affected by adoption, so you will preferably have experience of child care social work. The service currently offers a wide range of provision including recruitment and assessment of prospective adopters, matching and placing of children for adoption, and a range of support provision including individual counselling, direct work with children and group work and focused activities. The post holders will also help to develop links with community based services throughout the region, deliver on the priorities for adoption support and recruitment. You will work closely with social workers in the locality child care teams and offer guidance and support to colleagues as necessary. The current vacancy is a permanent position in our recruitment and assessment team.&nbsp; You will be expected to assess and support prospective adopters and facilitate their training.&nbsp; If you have a strong interest in these areas and a commitment to improving outcomes for children, we would welcome your application.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; You must be registered with a Care Council, with a professional Social Work qualification. An exciting opportunity has arisen for self-motivated individuals to join the Council’s Neighbourhood &amp; Environment Department undertaking the delivery of its front line services and providing flexible support as part of the Integrated Front Line Service, delivering the Division’s work plans across the County Borough. The successful applicants will initially be delivering the front line service for Street Cleansing but may also be required to be deployed into waste &amp; recycling, highway’s, grounds maintenance &amp; bereavement services, all of which form the Integrated Front Line Service
Essential requirements for the role include: 3 GCSE’s or equivalent qualification or demonstrable relevant work experience. Candidates should also be willing to work towards achieving an NVQ Level 1/2 qualification as part of the training plan, have the ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with mourners and members of the public and have an understanding of the Council’s work plans and challenges in meeting standards and public expectations. Candidates must also have Manual Handling experience and a willingness to attend relevant training as part of the induction/training plan.

The Infrastructure Services section is looking for an Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team to support in the delivery of the Council’s sustainable drainage functions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for management of the day-to-day sustainable drainage systems (SuD’s) inspections, provide technical support and guidance to developers and other members of the team, administration of inspection fees, upkeep of spreadsheets recording the payments and SAB Inspections, ensure SuD’s are constructed, adopted, and maintained in accordance with the legislative requirements.
<ul>
<li>Management of the day-to-day SuD’s inspections, adoption, enforcement and appeals in relation to SuD’s.</li>
<li>Provide technical advice in relation to surface water, sustainable drainage and measures to mitigate flood risk in respect of drafting relevant sections of legal agreements, planning enforcement, validation, planning policy and where required by other departments in the carrying out of the Council’s functions, meeting relevant deadlines and performance targets.</li>
<li>Attend committee meetings, working groups and external meetings associated with the development management function as may be required – which may be outside normal working hours.</li>
<li>Work effectively and negotiate with developers to secure high quality SuD’s schemes across the Borough.</li>
<li>From time to time the successful candidate will also assist in delivering statutory duties of the Built Environment team.</li>
