Job Description Job Title: Casual Trainer Salary: £15.16 per hour Grade: C Contract: Zero-hour Casual Contract on an As &amp; When Required Basis An exciting opportunity has arisen for Casual Trainers to work within the Caring for Thurrock Business Team supporting the Residential and Community teams by providing mandatory training courses for around 300 staff within the Services. The Services provide care support to vulnerable adults either within their own homes or within Residential settings. Casual Trainers will be required to deliver training on moving and handling, medication and safeguarding to new staff and to existing staff as refresher sessions.&nbsp; The role will be working as part of a team to ensure training is provided on a regular basis (weekly/monthly/annually) to all the teams/staff within Caring for Thurrock. You must be able to provide at least 12 training sessions a year, this should be either at the Civic Offices in Grays, Collins House Residential Home in Corringham or one of our other sites across the borough so willingness to travel around the borough is essential.&nbsp; Casual Trainers will need to be able to collate information within spreadsheets and attend regular meetings with internal and external customers. Existing experience of delivering training sessions is preferred but not essential as further training and support will be provided to ensure compliance. The type of person who will be suitable for this role will need to be organised and committed to meeting the tight deadlines that will be in place. About the Role
As Property Officer at Erewash Borough Council, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the planned and reactive maintenance for the Council’s property assets - driving innovation, sustainability, and value during this exciting period of change.
&nbsp;
What You Will Do
As the Property Officer you will help maintain and improve the Council’s buildings by planning, delivering and reviewing both planned and reactive maintenance programmes. This includes preparing specifications and tender documents, procuring contractors, managing budgets and ensuring all works comply with building regulations and legislation. You will also carry out building condition inspections, monitor contractor performance and update maintenance plans to ensure assets remain safe, well-maintained and cost-effective.
&nbsp;
A key part of the role is ensuring strong health and safety compliance, including areas such as Working at Height, Asbestos, Legionella and CDM Regulations. You will also support colleagues in Engineering, Building Compliance and Corporate Health &amp; Safety, helping keep the Council’s buildings safe, compliant and fit for public use.
&nbsp;
The role also involves making informed decisions about how maintenance and repair work is prioritised, ensuring buildings remain safe and in good condition. You will check the quality of contractor work, recommend repair actions and confirm when work meets the required standards. Strong financial responsibility is essential, as you will manage budgets, monitor spending, and certify contractor payments in line with contract requirements.

In addition, you will work closely with a range of internal teams and external partners. This includes collaborating with contractors, colleagues across the Council and specialist services to support sustainability, energy efficiency and the effective delivery of building projects.

About You
You will have:
&nbsp;

<li>Experience managing building maintenance programmes, undertaking building inspections, and managing contracted building repairs.</li>
<li>A degree in surveying or HNC/HND level qualification in a building construction related field.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of construction, building pathology, procurement, Health &amp; Safety legislation, and the ability to use IT software including Microsoft Office packages.</li>
<li>Knowledge of legislation affecting building operations e.g. British Standards, Approved Codes of Practice, Building and Planning Regulations.</li>
<li>A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.</li>
</ul>

You will also work as a senior operative within the team, managing site risks and acting as a key point of contact for colleagues, managers and the public.You will play a critical role in maintaining high standards of arboricultural practice while supporting productivity, training and continuous improvement.Key responsibilitiesYou will:<ul><li>Lead and carry out high-quality arboricultural operations, ensuring all work meets specification, performance targets and best practice standards.</li><li>Supervise and manage a team of tree operatives, allocating daily work, organising equipment and ensuring professionalism on site.</li><li>Undertake and oversee a full range of arboricultural works in line with BS3998 and other current standards, including pruning, removals, sectional dismantling, planting, aftercare, stump grinding and pest and disease management.</li><li>Take responsibility for on-site health and safety, managing ground and aerial operations and ensuring public safety at all times.</li><li>Implement traffic management controls where required, in compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act.</li><li>Support the delivery of productivity targets and assist with service improvements, new working methods and efficiency initiatives.</li></ul><h4>What We're Looking For</h4>You will be a highly skilled arborist with strong leadership experience and a commitment to safety and quality. You will bring:<ul><li>Proven experience at Climber or Lead Climber level within the arboricultural industry.</li><li>A comprehensive range of NPTC/LANTRA certifications (or equivalent), including climbing, aerial rescue, rigging, chainsaw operations and MEWP use.</li><li>Strong working knowledge of arboricultural standards, including BS3998 and BS8545.</li><li>Sound understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.</li><li>Excellent tree species identification skills and the ability to assess defects and risks.</li><li>Confidence leading teams, allocating work and maintaining high performance standards.</li><li>Good communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.</li><li>Basic IT skills or a willingness to undertake training.</li><li>A full, clean UK driving licence with C1 + E entitlement.</li></ul><h4>Additional Information</h4>Benefits and more information:Salary Range (Full time equivalent)£35,373 - £41,637pa.In your role, we want you to feel supported, challenged and rewarded. When the Lead Climber is working at height, you will provide on-site supervision, support safety management and be ready to carry out aerial rescue if required.You will undertake a wide range of arboricultural tasks across parks, highways and housing sites, while acting as a professional ambassador for Southwark Council.Key responsibilitiesYou will:<ul><li>Carry out a full range of tree care duties, including pruning, crown reduction, thinning, felling, stump grinding, root and basal growth removal and tree aftercare.</li><li>Undertake aerial rescue operations when required and support safe working practices on site.</li><li>Operate and maintain specialist arboricultural equipment, including chainsaws, chippers and stump grinders.</li><li>Drive non-HGV vehicles with trailed equipment where licensed, carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting defects.</li><li>Complete associated groundworks, including minor fencing, paving and surface repairs.</li><li>Apply herbicides, insecticides and fungicides safely and responsibly in line with PA1 and PA6 requirements and environmental best practice.</li></ul><h4>What We're Looking For</h4>You will be an experienced arborist with the skills and confidence to support and supervise tree work operations on site.
