We have an exciting opportunity to join the Natural Environment Team as a Countryside Ranger.&nbsp; 

Job summary: The post will undertake practical work improving countryside access, local nature reserves and countryside sites within the County of Blaenau Gwent.

Blaenau Gwent’s Natural Environment Team are seeking one individual with a passion for working in the Countryside to help deliver practical countryside improvements&nbsp; 

The role will involve working across the Natural Environment Team’s portfolio for the improvement of the County’s green infrastructure. This will include, amongst other duties, undertaking work on public footpath and bridleways by constructing stiles, gates and managing vegetation; undertaking work specified in management plans on local nature reserves as directed by senior colleagues; carrying out practical work to deliver landscape and environmental projects.&nbsp; 

The successful candidate will be physically fit, able to drive and understand practical countryside management skills including operation of appropriate tools such as chainsaws and brush cutters. The post will report to a Senior Ranger who will set forward work programmes according to the requirements of the Natural Environment Team.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The 14+ Team will offer you the opportunity to work with young people aged 14 years and over who are in need of care and support, in need of protection, are looked after and/or are care leavers. The post offers the&nbsp;opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge and practice in relation to young people across all manner of statutory intervention including assessment, care planning, long term planning, pathway planning and transition to adulthood.
You will have the opportunity to manage a varied case load focusing on what matters to young people and families, building on and supporting young people to identify their own strengths and resources, managing risk collaboratively with multi agency professionals as well as encouraging the development of independence skills.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and motivated social worker to join our 14+ Team. We welcome applications from experienced social workers, newly qualified social workers and student social workers (pending qualification).
The post offers an exciting opportunity to work with young people as part of a varied team consisting of social workers, support workers, mediation officers and leaving care personal advisors. With longstanding team members, there is opportunity to learn from the experiences of the team who are committed to delivering the highest quality service to the young people and families of Blaenau Gwent.
We recognise the need for staff support when working with young people who may have specific support needs and, as such, the successful appointees will benefit from training and development opportunities, monthly formal supervision sessions (more frequently if required), group supervision sessions and access to psychological consultations for psychologically informed advice and practice guidance. We recognise the importance of peer support, and the stability of the team has enabled the development of a strong team ethic which is to work together to effectively problem solve, motivate and encourage each other.
The 14+ team office has recently been repurposed to create indoor and outdoor space which promotes group work and independent living skills development. We want to offer a safe space to young people to learn new skills and for all 14+ staff to be involved in providing unique and creative ways of engaging young people to promote their wellbeing and safety.
There are exciting opportunities available to the team which enables and encourages creativity in how we can meet the needs of our older children who are looked after and our care leavers through use of the St David’s Day grant. This has, in recent years, included the opportunity for staff to plan and facilitate activities for our young people inclusive of a residential trip.
