What is the Orchard?&nbsp;
The Orchard is Leighton Academy’s specialist 20place SEN Unit (Year 1–Year 6) for pupils whose primary needs are Cognition &amp; Learning and Speech, Language &amp; Communication, as&nbsp;identified&nbsp;on their EHCP. Children learn and play in a dedicated,&nbsp;sensory friendly&nbsp;area of the school and benefit from highly structured routines, visual supports, and a calm, happy environment designed for engagement and success.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Our provision includes two classrooms with&nbsp;small group&nbsp;learning areas, a sensory room/calming space, dedicated outside play, and its own toilets and separate changing area—all set up to promote communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, life&nbsp;skills&nbsp;and independence. We adapt mainstream curriculum plans, emphasise fine/gross motor development and social play, and deliver daily Sensory Circuit sessions. About the Role:
School Readiness Workers are an integral part of the core Children's Centre offer across Wirral &amp; this post will be based at Seacombe Family Hub covering the Wallasey locality.
School Readiness Workers deliver universal support to families with children under the age of 5 years, such as Stay and Play sessions, as well as more targeted interventions such as Baby Massage and speech and language development activities, all with the aim to support parents and carers positively impact their child's development.
The role involves working with parents/carers to support their children's individual needs and provide inclusive support for all, both in the community and in a family's home environment. A key part of the role is to work collaboratively with partners across Wirral such as health, schools, youth and community organisations to ensure that all agencies are collectively supporting the family to meet their child's needs holistically.
Wirral's Family Hubs are accredited as Baby Friendly providers by UNICEF and School Readiness Workers are key to supporting families with responsive infant feeding support.

Job requirements: Welfare Assistant Permanent, Part Time – Term Time Only Monday to Friday 1 Hour 15 mins per day (6hr 15 mins per week)
Grade B, SCP 2 Required to start as soon as possible. We are looking to appoint a hardworking and enthusiastic Welfare Assistant to help our children have a happy and enjoyable lunchtime, supervise children as they eat their dinners and help them play well together. The successful candidate will be required to work as part of a team. The role involves: Ø The supervision of children within the dining hall, ensuring that the environment is safe at all times Ø Ensuring that children are engaged in meaningful play Ø Ensuring that children enter and leave the playground in an orderly manner Ø The supervision of children within the classroom during bad weather Ø The supervision of children within the playground ensuring that there are no signs of bullying and encouraging purposeful play within a happy stimulating environment. Ø The issue of minor first aid and attention to children who are unwell. Ø Having a calm manner and a good sense of humour To assist with any other duties as from time to time which may be allocated by the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.
