<h2>About the job</h2>JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY The what: The Revenue &amp; Strategy team is responsible for reporting, forecasting, business intelligence and analytical support across the entire commercial team. The how: The team delivers forecasting capabilities while maintaining business critical tools to ensure a strong governance of commercial contracts. The role: In this role, you will help the entire commercial department in delivering analysis and business intelligence tools to drive insights and improve further commercial revenues. You will be responsible for maintaining commercial contract databases, ensuring efficient contract management and improving further governance across the department. You will play a central role in providing commercial contract governance while ensuring sound compliance with internal financial controls. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES &amp; ACCOUNTABILITIES • Help develop BI tools: assist the Head of Revenue &amp; Strategy and the Commercial Analytics Manager in the implementation of Business Intelligence initiatives • Own the commercial contract databases and drive improvements in compliance: &nbsp; &nbsp;o To own, maintain and improve centralised commercial contract databases &nbsp; &nbsp;o To maintain business critical contract and board paper databases, enabling the commercial team to plan, renegotiate or retender upcoming contracts in a timely manner. &nbsp; &nbsp;o Support the existing owners of ICFR controls in commercial with compliance • Provide analytical support throughout the commercial department &nbsp; &nbsp;o To work in collaboration with the rest of the analysts, supporting the entire commercial directorate across various projects and presentations &nbsp; &nbsp;o To prepare internal presentations for senior management, supporting the delivery of business cases, tenders and commercial negotiations • Any other tasks, appropriate to the post, which may be required from time to time.<h2>About you</h2>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &amp; EXPERIENCE A successful candidate for this role will have: • Naturally analytical with a minimum of two-year within an analytical or accounting role • Organised person with strong attention to detail • Previous experience in reading through and interpreting commercial contracts • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint. We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join our Digital Services Team and provide expert analysis that will directly influence future service models, systems and ways of working. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in one of local governments most significant changes. As Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and devolution reshape&nbsp;how services are delivered, Chelmsford is at the centre of that transformation.
As a Business Analyst you will support the successful delivery of the Council’s LGR and devolution programmes, acting as a critical link between service areas, programme teams and technical colleagues. The role involves working with services and stakeholders to understand current operations, define future-state service models and identify opportunities for improvement, integration and efficiency. This includes leading investigative and analysis work to onboard and enhance services on the Council’s Microsoft Dynamics platform and other digital solutions.
Additional responsibilities include the gathering, analysis and documentation of business requirements to inform service redesign, systems integration and transformation as well as the mapping and analysis of ‘as-is’ and ‘to-be’ processes across complex, multi-service environments. Alos translating complex needs into clear process flows and supporting documentation, impact assessments, benefits realisation and risk management are key components of the role.
This is a hands-on Business Analyst role requiring excellent communication skills, strong analytical capability and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders. Significant experience as a Business Analyst working on complex change or transformation programmes and working with senior stakeholders across multiple services or organisations is essential to being successful in the role. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate an ability to analyse and simplify complex processes and data as well as possessing a strong understanding of digital delivery, the software development lifecycle and agile ways of working.
