About the role
Rugby Borough Council is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Income Officer to focus on income collection from within the Housing Services Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team where we want our tenants to succeed.
You’ll support and enhance the housing service that meets our purpose; to enable our tenants to succeed and sustain their tenancy.&nbsp; As part of the wider team you’ll focus on enabling our tenants to sustain their tenancies through both proactive and reactive rent collection.
This is a part time role, 18.5 hours a week. Working hours will be Wednesday 9am-12.30pm, Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-5pm.
About you
Ideally, you will possess a good working knowledge, experience and understanding around all aspects of income management and legislation that underpins it. A key aspect to this role is the collection and management of rent arrears and former tenant arrears and a good level of experience and understanding is fundamental.&nbsp;
The ideal candidate will take a flexible and holistic approach in ensuring we assist our customers in sustaining their tenancy.&nbsp;

What is the job role? This is a varied role which supports the Team Managers and Officers in ensuring through quality checking that legislation and procedures have been applied and liabilities, reliefs, discounts and exemptions are correct. The primary focus will be Business Rates, however knowledge of Council Tax and Enforcement are desirable. Other areas of work include:<ul><li>Providing advice on more complex queries</li><li>Responding to customer enquiries and escalations</li><li>Deputising for Team Managers</li><li>Updating accounts</li><li>Monitoring phone queues</li><li>Managing insolvency notifications by updating customer accounts, submitting proof of debts and corresponding with stakeholders</li></ul>All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. ACFS is a pivotal part of the Adult and Children Social Care Pathways, responsible for facilitating and overseeing the payment to providers of Adult and Children’s Social Care and for the collection of client contributions in accordance with Care Act 2014, and local policy. The amount of income and expenditure that is processed by ACFS is in excess of £100m net per annum and the service supports circa 10,000 citizens.&nbsp;To enable the successful collection of income, ACFS is responsible for undertaking means tested Financial Assessments of adults who have an assessed eligible care need. This also applies to those who are seeking financial support to Adopt, Foster or provide Guardianship or other official support to a child in accordance with The Children's Act 1989.
