Local Taxation &amp; Assessment Processing Officer – Housing Benefits - Level 2 &amp; 3.
About the Role:
The Revenues and Benefits Service has an exciting opportunity to recruit several Local Taxation, Assessment, and Processing Officers at level 2 and level 3. The service is responsible for the administration, assessments and transactional processes in relation to Housing Benefit ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals, able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to interpret legislation to make decisions and utilise IT systems to accurately record information is essential as is the ability to work at pace.

Level 2 and Level 3 duties to include:

<li>Deal with inbound and outbound contact with customers via telephone, email or letter</li>
<li>Work to well defined standard business processes to analyse information and perform more complex tasks</li>
<li>Be proactive in contributing to the achievement of statistical and qualitative performance targets</li>
<li>Assist in the development of the service</li>

For Level 3 positions, proven experience of relevant legislation, working procedures and technical knowledge in respect of Housing Benefit and/or Welfare Benefits is desirable however individuals able to demonstrate good problem solving and decision-making skills, with suitable transferable skills are encouraged to apply.
Additional Level 3 duties&nbsp;

Are you an experienced fraud Officer with a good understanding of Revenues and Benefits Service? Do you have an eye for details and a passion for ensuring accuracy in financial investigation? If so, we want to hear from you.
An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Revenues and Benefits team at Hastings Borough Council.
It is an essential requirement that the candidate has experience of working in a Council Tax or a Benefits Section and have knowledge of Council Tax and Welfare Benefits Law and Procedures, as well as experience of investigation techniques generally, and specifically public sector services.&nbsp; You will also have the ability to show awareness of fraud in relation to Council Tax Reduction, Council Tax, Business Rates accounts and entitlement in a similar environment.&nbsp; The successful candidate will be self-motivated and an effective team player, with excellent customer care and communication skills.
In this role , you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures relating to Housing Benefits, Business Rates, and Council Tax Reduction. You will investigate discrepancies, review all reductions, discounts, and exemptions to ensure that they are granted correctly, where incorrect, the reductions, discounts and exemptions are removed or reduced accordingly and where appropriate penalties are imposed in line with policies and legislation. To review all fraud referrals within Revenues and Benefits team for veracity and decide whether these should be pursued. Collate and prepare Benefit Fraud Referrals for further investigation and prosecution for the DWP and to review National Fraud Initiative data matching exercise.
