We require a Registration Officer to support the delivery of the Service on a permanent contract basis.
Some weekend working may be required.
You will have the ability to work co-operatively with others, treat people fairly and equally and adapt your approach to secure a positive outcome.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory regulations, policies and procedures in relation to civil registration of births, stillbirths, deaths, marriage and civil partnerships. Experience of working in the civil registration service would be an advantage but not essential, as full training will be given.
You must possess a Level 2 qualification or equivalent (eg: 4 GCSE’s at grade A*- C) including English and Maths, or relevant experience and, excellent communication skills.
You must have excellent organisational and prioritisation skills and be flexible, with the ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a calm, confident and professional manner with a diverse range of people in sensitive situations.

- We are&nbsp;seeking&nbsp;to appoint a Business Office Support Apprentice for a position in our Environment and Transport team.&nbsp;
- The ideal candidate will&nbsp;be required&nbsp;to speak English to an appropriate&nbsp;standard&nbsp;and we ask for a professional attitude to work and a willingness to learn and to take responsibility.&nbsp;
- You will&nbsp;assist&nbsp;the team in the business administration duties of the Growth and Sustainability service.&nbsp;
- You will be employed by Barnsley Metropolitan Council starting at NJC Grade 3, and as an apprentice with the Council, you will be fully supported to develop your skills,&nbsp;experience&nbsp;and undertake a Level 3 Business Administration qualification with Barnsley College.&nbsp;
-&nbsp;Please note that candidates who already hold a Level 3 Business Admin diploma or a higher qualification in business will not be eligible to apply.&nbsp;
The role provides&nbsp;great variety, and typical duties will be:&nbsp; &nbsp;
- Administration duties – provide Business Support to managers of the Council, enabling them to fulfil their role effectively while managing interruptions and conflicting demands.&nbsp;
- Customer service - Handle email and face-to-face enquiries, providing advice, guidance, and support to both internal and external stakeholders across the service.&nbsp;
- Data management – Process enquiries, requests, and applications and&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;accurate&nbsp;records.&nbsp;
- Meeting support - Organise and support statutory meetings, including minute-taking and liaising with stakeholders.&nbsp;
- Financial administration - Manage financial tasks such as placing orders and processing invoices.&nbsp;
- Collaborations - Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;effective communication links.&nbsp;
- Legislation awareness - Keep&nbsp;up-to-date&nbsp;with relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures.&nbsp;
- System development - Contribute to the development and review of systems and procedures to ensure efficient service administration&nbsp;
You will need:&nbsp;

<li>GCSE Mathematics and English language at Grades 4-9 or above, plus one of the following:&nbsp;</li>

<li>Experience of working within a business support environment.&nbsp;</li>

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Council’s Safer Neighbourhood Service. If you thrive in a busy, interesting, and rewarding environment and can provide a solid contribution to making a real difference we would like to hear from you. Duties of the post include but are not limited to supporting a range of internal and external customers, responding to emails, telephone and face to face enquiries, general administration, basic finance, using digital applications and systems, as well as supporting a range of meetings and recording proceedings directly onto a laptop at speed and with accuracy.
The successful applicant will need to hold a level 2 qualification and have experience of working within a business support environment preferably with some knowledge of Safeguarding Adults and the work of the Safer Neighbourhood Services, but this is not essential. You must be flexible in your approach to ensure the overall service objectives are achieved, be an excellent team player and willing to make a solid contribution to the smooth running of the service.
You must be willing to undertake a police vetting process in line with local and national requirements.
You will be able to work effectively as part of a team, working together with colleagues and in partnership with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at a senior level.
