Licensing Assistant

This role is a chance to be at the heart of public protection. You’ll play a key part in ensuring that businesses and individuals across the borough operate safely, legally, and responsibly. From alcohol sales and entertainment venues to taxis and street trading, licensing touches many aspects of daily life. Your work will help safeguard communities, support local businesses, and uphold public confidence in regulated services.
About the role:
You will be responsible for processing licence applications across a diverse range of areas including alcohol sales, gambling premises, taxi services, and street trading. You will scrutinise supporting documentation to ensure compliance with legal standards, maintain accurate records, and issue licences in accordance with statutory requirements. You’ll also provide clear guidance to applicants and members of the public on licensing procedures, while working closely with colleagues to resolve issues and continuously improve service delivery.
About the candidate:
We’re looking for someone who communicates effectively and professionally, can manage a busy workload while meeting deadlines, and demonstrates strong attention to detail alongside solid IT skills. The ideal candidate will understand the importance of legislation and public service, and be tactful, assertive, and confident when handling challenging or confrontational situations.
Desirable candidates will bring knowledge of licensing legislation, along with experience working in regulatory services or within local government. Familiarity with licensing databases is also advantageous, helping to ensure efficient and accurate processing of applications.

Administration Officer - Children's Education Inclusion & Provision

We have an exciting opportunity within our Business Support Service for a self-motivated and organised Business Support Officer to join our No Recourse to Public Funds team (NRPF) Finance Team within the Business Support Service. The Business Support team provides essential administrative and financial support to social workers and managers within the NRPF service. Our work plays a vital role in ensuring that payments are processed accurately, efficiently and on time to support families in need, helping to maintain smooth service delivery and effective support for vulnerable children and families. This role is primarily finance focused and requires a high level of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail. Key responsibilities include processing a range of financial transactions such as rent invoices, BACs payments, council tax bills, prepaid payments, council rent and cash payments. You will work closely with team managers, social workers and external stakeholders to ensure all financial processes are completed accurately and within KPI’s. The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, be confident working with financial systems, and be able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines. This is a key role supporting the financial operations of the NRPF service, ensuring payments are made promptly and efficiently to enable effective service delivery.
