To be a Democratic Services Officer, you will have knowledge of local authority decision-making processes, along with experience of supporting and advising various committees.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Democratic Services Officer to join our small, supportive, and friendly team, where you’ll play a vital role in supporting the democratic process at the heart of our local authority.
In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll work closely with elected Members and senior officers across all departments, helping to ensure the smooth running of our governance and decision-making processes. You will provide high-quality administrative and organisational support to the council’s committees, including its scrutiny function, and help build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders both inside and outside the organisation.
As a key member of the team, you’ll also support the Mayor and Deputy Mayor in their civic duties and assist the Electoral, Democratic and Civic Services Manager with the delivery of elections and other democratic functions.
We’re looking for someone with excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for public service. If you’re organised, proactive, and ready to make a real difference in your community, we’d love to hear from you.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a proactive and innovative individual with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a sound understanding of local government decision-making and modern committee management practices.
