Projects and Contracts Officer (Enterprising Barnsley)

Barnsley Council are supporting Retail, Hospitality, and Leisure businesses with focused business support directly targeted to their needs. Until 31st March 2027, businesses based in Barnsley who are in the Retail, Hospitality, and Leisure sectors will be able to access fully funded businesses support. We are looking for a project officer to help plan the activity, collate the information around the support different businesses receive, monitor the financial details of the programme, track outcomes & outputs, as well as help preparing the data generated for presentation. This role sits within Barnsley Councils’ award-winning Enterprising Barnsley team.

If you have experience of delivering public funded projects,  have passion for project and partnership working whilst delivering the expectations of external funders, then we would welcome an application from you.

 Your role in our journey

As Project and Contract Officer you will be supporting the Council’s Enterprising Barnsley team to deliver the Retail, Hospitality, and Leisure project in Barnsley. You will use your expertise and knowledge of project administration to work in close partnership with a range of public/private organisations to deliver a successful and compliant project.

What you’ll need

This is a fixed term post up to the 31^st March 2027, to join us, you’ll need a relevant level 3 qualification and/or evidence in a related field and your commitment to continuous professional development. You will need to evidence that you have a track record of effectively delivering projects, ideally business support related. Working in collaboration with multiple partners, being an effective communicator and a ‘can do’ attitude are attributes that we are seeking.
