South Tyneside Council's Youth Service is looking to recruit a motivated, passionate and experienced Youth Development Officer to lead the development and delivery of our borough-wide programme of youth voice, volunteering and social action opportunities.

This exciting role will lead the delivery of the new ‘Youth Action - South Tyneside Programme’, supporting young people aged 8-18 (up to 25 for young people with SEND) to participate, volunteer, campaign and create positive change within their communities. The successful candidate will coordinate a range of opportunities including the Young Volunteers Programme, Youth Voice Collective, Social Action Champions Programme and the Annual Youth Impact Awards.

You will work directly with young people, schools, community organisations and key partners to ensure young people are at the heart of decision-making, community action and service development. Through youth-led projects, volunteering opportunities and social action initiatives, you will empower young people to develop confidence, resilience, leadership skills and positive aspirations while making a meaningful difference to their communities.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and innovative youth work professional with experience of developing and delivering participation, volunteering or social action programmes. You will have excellent communication and partnership working skills and be committed to ensuring the voices of young people are heard and acted upon across South Tyneside.

This post requires flexibility to meet the needs of the service and young people, and will include evening, weekend and school holiday working.
