Erewash Borough Council is seeking an experienced individual to help deliver our essential in-house waste and recycling services, including waste & kerbside collections. Reporting to the Waste Services Manager, the Waste Services Supervisor will take responsibility for the effective day-to-day operation of this high-profile frontline service, from overseeing operational processes to liaising on waste disposal matters.

You will lead, motivate and develop the waste collection team, working to provide a reliable, responsive and high-quality service. In partnership with the Waste Services Manager, operational teams and colleagues across the council, you will influence future service improvements, support sustainable waste practices and help ensure that the council continues to meet its legal duties.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure operational targets, service objectives and statutory requirements are met.
  • Champion a positive health and safety culture and maintain effective management systems.
  • Manage the waste collection team day-to-day.
  • Ensure the collection team are trained and equipped for the role, completing crew monitoring and accident investigation and reporting.
  • Work closely with fleet service team to ensure vehicles are available for service delivery and maintained for road transport compliance.

What We’re Looking For

You will hold a full HGV Class 2 driving licence and have experience of supervising or managing people and resources. A confident team and partnership worker, you will bring the sound judgement and interpersonal skills needed to negotiate effectively, resolving issues day-to-day whilst liaising with customers, and keeping services moving.
