    About the role

    The Waste Management Team at West Northants Council is seeking to recruit a Waste Customer Service Administrator.

    We are looking to recruit a friendly & confident communicator who will enjoy supporting our residents with a high level of customer service. The role requires someone who is organised and works well under pressure as we introduce new customer facing waste systems.

    In this role you’ll provide support to the Waste Management service, an essential service used by all West Northants residents.

    Your primary role will be to efficiently process waste management service related customer queries and provide front facing advice, through multiple channels, including telephone calls, emails and other online waste systems. Primarily dealing with enquiries regarding our Household Waste Recycling Centres the role will also provide support on other general Waste Management administrative tasks.

    You will be supported by colleagues in the waste operations team to proactively manage residents’ queries, helping to ensure the smooth management of waste services to fulfil the Council's statutory duties.

    The role is for an initial 12 month period - fixed term contract and we would potentially welcome any internal applicants looking for a secondment opportunity.


    Additional information

    Ideally you will have experience delivering excellence customer service. You will be confident in engaging with customers and service users on the introduction of new waste service systems, giving support to residents over the phone and online.

    You will need
    • A sound understanding or experience Council waste services (training will be provided)
    • Ability to work independently, using own initiative
    • Ability to prioritise and work efficiently
    • To enjoy the challenge of contributing to and helping residents
    • Attention to detail and computer skills supporting back office functions
    • Experience of data analysis and producing reports
    • Great communication skills
    • Excellent customer service skills to ensure our colleagues and partners have a positive experience
