We are looking for a motivated, detail‑driven, and people‑focused Travel Assistance Compliance Officer to join our Travel Assistance Service. This new role is essential in strengthening governance, data quality, and the consistency of our transport provision for children, young people, and adults across Barnsley.

You will ensure the service meets statutory requirements, follows agreed processes, and correctly applies the Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) framework. The role also includes managing high‑quality data across all aspects of the service, ensuring information is stored, used, and shared in line with strict confidentiality and information governance standards.

We are looking for someone who can build and strengthen relationships with providers, internal teams, and partners — someone approachable, confident, and collaborative, who can work constructively to raise standards and support service improvement.

    Duties Include

    • Maintaining and updating spreadsheets and data systems
    • Chasing outstanding information from providers and internal teams
    • Making calls and communicating with external transport operators
    • Carrying out general administrative duties to support the wider service
    • Ensuring sensitive information is managed securely and appropriately

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Monitoring and enforcing compliance with the DPS framework
    • Managing accurate, secure, and confidential data across all areas of the service
    • Supporting procurement, contract management, and quality assurance processes
    • Conducting compliance checks and producing clear, evidence‑based reports
    • Building strong and effective relationships across the service and with transport providers
    • Using Microsoft systems to a high standard, particularly Excel, to manage data and produce reports
    • Contributing to service improvements and supporting operational decision‑making

    What We’re Looking For

    • Strong Microsoft skills to a high standard, particularly in Excel (essential)
    • Experience handling highly confidential information
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to strengthen working relationships
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify compliance risks
    • Experience in compliance, data management, governance, or quality assurance
    • Ability to interpret policies, guidance, and contractual requirements
    • Confident communication and the ability to challenge non‑compliance constructively
    • A proactive, organised, and solution‑focused approach

    Why Join Us?

You’ll be joining a collaborative and forward‑thinking service where your work will directly strengthen standards, drive improvement, and support better outcomes for the children, young people, and families we serve. This is a great opportunity to shape a new role, influence change, and contribute to a more compliant, consistent, and effective Travel Assistance Service.

    Salary range

    • £31,537 - £34,434 per year
