About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to begin your career in transport planning and development with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
As Trainee Transport Officer, you’ll join our Network Development Team and play a key supporting role in shaping the future of the region’s transport network. From bus and rail to rapid transit and active travel, you’ll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of multi-modal initiatives—while contributing to projects that improve connectivity, sustainability, and accessibility for residents across the city region.
You’ll provide vital administrative and coordination support, helping to manage communications, organise meetings, maintain project documentation, and assist with stakeholder engagement. You’ll also have the opportunity to shadow senior colleagues, contribute to scheme development, and learn about the business case process and strategic planning frameworks.
This is a development role, designed to build your skills, confidence, and understanding of transport policy and delivery. You’ll be part of a collaborative, customer-focused team working to deliver a world-class transport system—and you’ll be supported every step of the way.

Salary range
- £29,423 - £32,530 per year
