Job Description

Organisation: Leicestershire County Council

Work Location: Highways Depot (Property Services) 91 Hawcliffe Road, Mountsorrel, LE12 7AH

Salary: Grade 7 starting at £26,832.00 with increment progression to £28,146.00 annual increments are paid from 1st April subject to the employee having 12 months service in the grade.

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 3.30pm Friday 7.30am to 3pm

Contract Type: Permanent

Tradesperson/Groundworker in the LCC Sites development Team, to undertake a variety of groundwork and hard landscaping.

About the Role

Use trade experience to undertake a wide variety of groundwork and landscaping jobs across Leicestershire.

External hard construction works including fencing, drainage, surfacing, and other groundwork operations.

Drive works vehicles and carry out vehicle and plant safety checks.

Safely operate plant and machinery including 360 excavators, dumper, roller and handheld equipment.

Undertake site visits where required and feed-in information to support the production of estimates by others.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.

This role is a “safety critical post” and, consequently, subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with our policies and procedures. A copy of our Substance Testing Policy, Procedure and Guidance is available upon request.

About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • CSCS plant safety certification for 360 Digger/Ride on Roller/Ride on Dumper
  • Experience and working knowledge of groundworks, fencing and landscaping projects.
  • Experience of liaising with customers. Experience in working with other ground working operatives
  • H&S legislation awareness including CDM regulations
  • Working knowledge and understanding of groundworks including tarmacking, kerbing, underground services, drainage & fence laying etc
  • Good communication skills
  • Full Driving licence
