The Town Centres Management team provide management, operational and promotional support for Knowsley's town centres. Alongside this, we also manage Kirkby Market, a permanent market rebuilt in 2014. The market is popular with shoppers, open 6 days per week, providing valuable shopping and employment opportunities for the local area, as well as an important source of income for the Council.

Kirkby Market is part of Kirkby Town Centre. The Market has 132 stalls which run six days a week, Monday to Saturday; full market days are Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. The Market is open to customers from 09.00 to 16.30hrs each day. Staff cover from 07.00 to 17.00hrs.

You will support the day-to-day management of Kirkby Market, including working with traders, members of the public and contractors, enforcement of the Market Code of Practice, administration of the market operations, some basic cleaning and operation of our waste facilities.

We are a small team and postholders must be extremely reliable, approachable, used to dealing with the public, committed, have a flexible approach to working hours and duties, be willing to learn and happy to use their own initiative.

Given the nature of the role and the size of the team, this role is not suitable for flexible or home working.
