Barnsley Council is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong communication skills and attention to detail to support our team of experienced surveyors and the wider Council through accurate data input and the ongoing maintenance of the Council’s property information, including the Asset Register and Terrier systems.

A major element of the work will involve working alongside surveyors to maintain data for the Council’s Strategic Housing New Build and Acquisition programme. The aim of the Programme is to increase the Council’s affordable housing stock by buying residential properties and supporting the development of new build properties on Council owned land through direct build and joint venture opportunities.

You will assist and support the Principal Technician and Senior Technician to ensure the delivery, maintenance and continual improvement of the Asset Register and Terrier systems by capturing and verifying geographic and textual data from transfer documentation, conveyances, leases and tenancies, etc., and inputting information onto computerised systems and to be a point of contact for the Council in respect of general land ownership enquiries.

This role offers a great opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals and learn from their expertise. It involves capturing and verifying geographic and textual data, conducting land and property surveys, and using CAD and GIS systems to produce visual plans and resolving boundary disputes to managing records of land and property interests.

Your contributions will support the ongoing project to transfer data to a corporate GIS, promoting e-business and accessibility. The role includes providing training to new users of the Asset Register and Terrier (GIS) systems.

If you are motivated with good communication skills and are willing to use your initiative to solve problems with a passion for property matters, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity at Barnsley Council. Join us in making a difference and contributing to the success of our community.
