Key responsibilities:

  • Provide operational leadership of the Safeguarding Adult Triage (SAT) Team, ensuring staffing levels are sufficient to meet service demand and performance expectations
  • Oversee the allocation of all incoming safeguarding concerns across the triage team, ensuring timely and appropriate distribution of work
  • Monitor individual and team workloads, performance, and work trays to ensure compliance with service standards, KPIs, and statutory requirements
  • Authorise safeguarding triage decisions, including progression to Section 42(2) enquiries, undertaking quality assurance checks and ensuring accurate allocation to the appropriate locality team
  • Provide regular supervision, performance appraisal, professional support, and development opportunities for team members
  • Manage workforce matters in accordance with Council policies and procedures, including recruitment, attendance management, disciplinary matters, capability, and performance management processes
  • Deliver professional advice, guidance, and managerial oversight to safeguarding triage social workers to support effective decision-making and risk management
  • Lead the development and implementation of operational processes and service improvements to ensure the team meets demand, statutory duties, and performance targets
  • Undertake quality assurance activities, including audits, case reviews, and oversight of documentation, providing constructive feedback to promote continuous learning and professional development
  • Contribute to the production and analysis of performance reports and present performance information to Adult Access Leads, Senior Managers, and team members
  • Lead and oversee Keep in Touch (KIT) meetings and other team communication forums
  • Support the investigation and response to complaints, using customer feedback and learning outcomes to improve service quality and delivery
  • Chair safeguarding strategy meetings, including Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) meetings, as required
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key partners and stakeholders, representing the service at relevant internal and multi-agency meetings, including quality assurance and safeguarding forums
  • Promote a culture of safeguarding excellence, accountability, partnership working, and continuous improvement across the service
