About the team

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to join us as Team Manager for our Income & Financial Assessments team. You’ll lead a team of around 40 staff, overseeing accurate assessments of financial contributions toward care costs. Reporting to the Head of Service or a Senior Manager, you’ll manage up to three Team Leaders, ensuring timely assessments, strong team performance, and effective staff support.

About the role

Main areas of responsibility include

Leadership: Provide clear direction and leadership to the Income & Financial Assessment teams, aligning work with strategic goals.

Service Improvement: Lead initiatives to streamline financial assessment processes and enhance debt recovery, with a focus on prevention.

Process Design: Collaborate with experts to design services that meet user needs and improve operational efficiency.

Communication & Culture: Promote open communication and a strong customer service ethos across the team.

Project Delivery: Lead service transformation projects, including process redesign, tech adoption, and staff development to improve reporting and performance.

Partnerships: Build and maintain effective internal and external partnerships.

Stakeholder Engagement: Manage enquiries from elected officials and key stakeholders with professionalism and insight.

Prioritisation: Balance competing priorities while upholding the Council’s RISE principles.

Legislative Knowledge: Apply a strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.

The Income and Financial Assessment Team is undergoing a period of transformation of our processes and practice, maximising existing systems and encouraging digital solutions. You will have a vital role in leading a number of these initiatives

About you

Essential:

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Leadership experience in a similar role, ideally within income or financial assessments
  • Experience in service planning and redesign to improve customer experience.
  • Understanding of social care principles and their application in financial processes.
  • Excellent communicator with a focus on customer service.
  • Track record of leading service transformation and using technology effectively.
  • Skilled in building collaborative partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and prioritisation skills.
  • Experience handling enquiries from elected officials and external stakeholders.
  • Committed to continuous learning and leadership development.
