An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational Team Leader of Englishto join our school. This vacancy will suit a highly effective teacher of English ready to take on or develop their leadership. You will support the Director with the development and implementation of the English curriculum across both key stages, ensuring pupils achieve their full potential in this subject. You will be supported to build on your current excellent practice both as a leader and a highly effective teacher of English.
Westborough has a strong team leader development programme and there are opportunities to network with other English departments. Westborough has an established staffing platform and can develop teachers and leaders whatever their career stage.
Following the Section 8 Ofsted inspection in June 2026, Westborough achieved the green expected judgement in every category. Inspectors were highly complimentary about the quality of education provided at Westborough, recognising that ‘pupils are supported well to achieve.’ The inspectors praised the professional learning provided to staff and commented ‘staff value this support and recognise how this shapes their practice,’ ‘staff are proud to work at the school.’ ‘They feel supported by leaders who take workload and wellbeing into consideration’. The Ofsted team also recognised that ‘leaders and staff have high expectations of pupils’ in all aspects of school life, from academic achievement to standards of behaviour. Inspectors further noted that ‘leaders and staff act as role models for pupils. They build effective relationships that are the foundation for highly effective pastoral support.’ This reflects the caring and ambitious culture that we strive to provide for every young person.
