About the role
As a Team Leader, you will oversee the work of the team and ensure they deliver high quality support to 28 individuals working in partnership with other professionals. You may also work some direct support shifts which will enable you to coach and mentor the team. You will support the manager to formally supervise staff, in line with the Performance and Development Scheme, assist with compiling the rota, support with training and sickness management, so experience in this area is preferable.
You will be required to participate in improving the quality of service experienced by the people we support, through developing, implementing, and reviewing individual support plans in conjunction with the people we support.
You will also lead the team to ensure compliance with local and national quality standards and ensure that this is recorded and evidenced.
The people we support live in their own flats, you will support them to develop and maintain their skills to be more independent. You will therefore need to work in partnership with a range of professionals – GPs, health support services such as physios, speech and language, nurses etc, as well as with the people we support and their families. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills are essential.
No two days are the same and you must be able to problem solve and multitask in a fast-paced environment and may need to be prepared to work over two sites.

About you
An NVQ, QCF or RQF Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) and you will be encouraged and supported to undertake an RQF Level 4 qualification
Good communication skills, both written and verbal as you will be required to liaise with social workers and families and other professionals involved with the people we support
Previous experience of working with people with learning disabilities and knowledge of safeguarding and mental capacity policies are essential
The ability to reflect on your own experiences and practice to build professional relationships with the people we support, family carers and other agencies in order to understand the needs and rights of individuals.
Always aware of risks and how they can be minimised ensuring the health and safety of colleagues and the people you support.
