Teaching Assistant Level 2
SCHOOL VACANCY
Teaching Assistant Level 2– Fixed Term (12 months in the first instance)
Full Time (6H05 per day, 5 days per week)
Copmanthorpe Primary School is looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant Level 2 to join our team.
The successful candidate will work as part of our wider teaching assistant team, supporting pupils' learning, development and wellbeing across the school.
Initially, the role will be based in our Early Years classroom, involving a combination of general classroom support and working closely with a pupil whose primary area of need is communication and interaction. As with all our teaching assistant roles, deployment may change over time depending on the needs of the school and its pupils.
We are looking for someone who is patient, adaptable and willing to use a range of approaches to help children communicate, engage and access learning. This will include the use of visual supports, reduced spoken language and other strategies tailored to individual needs.
The role will also involve supporting a pupil to use an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device. Previous experience of AAC is not essential, but a willingness to learn, undertake relevant training and engage in ongoing professional development is important.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a caring, patient and positive approach to working with children.
- Can support learning both within the wider classroom and through individual or small-group activities.
- Understands the importance of adapting their approach to meet pupils' individual needs.
- Is confident, or willing to develop confidence, in using alternative communication approaches, including visuals, reduced language and AAC.
- Is enthusiastic about supporting children to develop their independence, confidence and communication skills.
- Works effectively as part of a team, following the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo.
- Is flexible, proactive and willing to develop their skills through training and professional development.
- Ideally has previous experience of working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and inclusive school where we are committed to helping every child believe, grow and achieve.
While the position is initially offered on a 12-month fixed-term basis, we see this as an opportunity to welcome someone into our wider team, with the potential for a permanent appointment in the future, subject to the school's staffing requirements and available funding.
If you are passionate about making a difference to children's learning and development, we would love to hear from you.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We require the successful applicant to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
This post is subject to the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009 and as such shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a Disqualification Declaration. Any information supplied will be discussed at interview.
