The children, staff, and Governing Body at Holmgate Primary School and Nursery are seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated school team. This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, patient and committed individual to support a child in our Nursery with autism and significant communication needs.

This is a highly rewarding 1:1 role supporting a Nursery-aged child with autism and significant communication needs. The child is currently pre-verbal and requires support with intimate/personal care. We are seeking a calm and nurturing practitioner who can develop a strong understanding of the child's individual communication, sensory and learning needs. The successful candidate will promote inclusion and independence and, subject to ongoing need, funding and staffing arrangements, there is an intention for the role to provide continuity of support as the child progresses through school.

At Holmgate, we offer the opportunity to be part of a warm, supportive, and collaborative school community, where the success and wellbeing of our pupils are at the heart of all we do. We value high-quality CPD and provide opportunities for staff to develop their skills and feel empowered within an ever-changing educational landscape.

Successful candidates will be contacted on Monday 2nd November 2026 and next steps will be provided. If you have not heard from us by Tuesday 3rd November 2026, please assume you have not been successful. Interviews will take place on Thursday 5th November 2026. Ideally, the role would start on Monday 7th December 2026.

If you would like to come and look round the school, please contact the school office directly on 01246 862270

Provisional Interview Date: 5 November 2026

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
