    Do you have experience of supporting people with learning disabilities, autism or enduring mental health conditions? Are you committed to improving the lives of St.Helens residents who face daily challenges


    Are you passionate about supporting people to develop confidence and independence, to gain employment or volunteering opportunities or to get back into work following a mental health condition/illness


    We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, energetic, creative and proactive individual to work directly with people who experience barriers to employment. Under the direction of the Job Coach Supervisor, you will engage and support people with a range of support needs into a programme of learning and development, leading to paid or voluntary employment.

    An ability to build trusting relationships with individuals, offering a patient and kind approach, good listening skills and giving clear direction is essential to this role. You will also need the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

    You will need the skills to support people with a range of support needs with a variety of employment skills including confidence building, job searching, CV/applications, interview skills, expectations of a workplace and on the job coaching.

    This may include supporting with travel training to and from places of employment and education, therefore, the ideal candidate should be familiar with local travel routes and have a commitment to supporting people to become more independent in the community.

    Although not essential, the ideal candidate will have experience of supporting people with long term mental health conditions to re-engage into the community. Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities/autism to develop independent skills would also be advantageous for this post.


    You will be responsible for the daily monitoring and evaluation of the support in place over several weeks for each individual to evaluate and assess a person's suitability for a role, therefore you will require effective communication/literacy skills and a basic knowledge of IT.

    The service operates Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm however flexibility is required as support may be required outside of these hours or on weekends, depending on the workplace and hours.


    You must understand the importance of promoting individuals' rights to independence, choice and inclusion and have experience of supporting people who need assistance.

    Experience of working within the Social Care Sector is preferable but not essential, as corporate induction and training is provided.
