The Council’s Street Care Service is responsible for the cleanliness of the Borough of Chelmsford. This is a wide ranging service geared toward improving the quality of the environment by improving litter standards, removing the nuisance created by fly-tipping, graffiti and fly-posting and improving feelings of safety and security to create a sense of care and respect for the place in which people live, work and visit.
Supporting the front line service is the Street Services team which undertake a wide ranging number of activities to ensure that the street furniture (seats, litter & dog waste bins, Street name plates, bollards, signage, etc) is maintained to its optimum and installed/replaced when required. The team are also responsible for various maintenance activities, including operating a jet-vac tanker, across a wide range of Council sites.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to play a key role in helping us ensure that the infrastructure of the borough that the Council is responsible for, is kept to the best standard possible. There is also an element of cleaning and redecoration to ensure our street furniture always looks its best.
Based at our Freighter House depot in Springfield, the successful applicant will be expected to work 37 hours per week normally worked Monday to Thursday 06:00am – 2:00pm, Friday 06:00am to 1.30pm. It should be noted however that some flexibility will be required, including occasional early or later starts, or the requirement to work on a week-end or bank holiday.
