Make a Difference in Lancaster
Join us as a Stores Assistant and play a vital role in supporting the smooth running of our stores service. Your work will ensure that stock levels are well managed, deliveries are handled efficiently, and our depot areas remain safe and organised. By contributing to effective service delivery, you’ll help Lancaster City Council meet the needs of our community while upholding our commitment to safety, sustainability, and excellent public service.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll open and close the stores, issue stock and materials to staff and contractors, and assist with deliveries. Using IT systems, you’ll keep accurate records of stock levels and requisitions. You’ll operate vehicles such as telehandlers and forklifts to move materials safely, maintain cleanliness in the stores and yard, and carry out stock audits. Your role also involves making decisions within Council policies and providing excellent customer service to colleagues and suppliers.

You’ll Fit Right In If…
You have experience operating telehandlers and forklifts, a good understanding of stock management and health and safety, and strong customer service skills. You take pride in your workmanship and work well as part of a team. You share our values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride, and Ownership, and are flexible to work 30 hours per week, mainly Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends. A valid driving licence is essential for this role.
