A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and technically skilled professional to join Bristol City Council’s Local & Sustainable Transport team. Working at the heart of one of the city’s most ambitious transport programmes, you will play a key role in delivering the Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) that underpin road safety schemes, active travel projects, parking initiatives and wider transport improvements across Bristol.
What will I be doing?
You will work at a senior technical level within the Local & Sustainable Transport team, supporting the delivery of a wide range of transport projects and service improvements. The role has a particular focus on drafting and progressing Traffic Regulation Orders and associated legal notices, ensuring that transport schemes can be implemented and enforced effectively.
Working closely with project managers, engineers, legal services, councillors and external stakeholders, you will provide specialist advice on statutory processes, develop expertise in traffic regulation matters and help shape innovative transport solutions for the city.
You will also coordinate project tasks, undertake technical research, interpret legislation and contribute to the continuous improvement of transport services.
What do I need to have?
You will be educated to Level 4 (or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate substantial relevant experience in a transport, highways, technical or related professional environment.
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of transport services and legislation, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information clearly.
You will have experience of researching issues, preparing documentation to a high standard and building effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be particularly beneficial: public consultation, partnership working, project delivery, research and benchmarking, or the presentation of complex technical information. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is essential, together with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
