The Role
We are delighted to share that we have a Social Work vacancy in our Through Care team. In Through Care we work with children in a variety of care arrangements who have long-term permanent plans.

You will be supported by and working within a stable, permanent management group and in teams where the culture of ‘team’ and a supportive learning environment is embedded with regular supervision, manageable caseloads, and regular team meetings. We know how important this is in achieving forward thinking and progressive social work practice where children and young people experience a great, consistent and responsive service, and our partners have trust and confidence in us.

About You
We’re seeking a passionate, skilled and confident practitioner who:

  • Will work directly with children, parents and carers to understand their experiences, wishes and feelings.
  • Will work with families to manage risk and provide safety to our children and families by chairing monthly core group meetings, delivering reports for child protection conference and completing s47 enquiries where significant safeguarding concerns arise.
  • Liaise effectively with partner agencies to support safe and timely outcomes.
  • Provide clear, evidence-based analysis and recommendations to assist the court and families in decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records in accordance with statutory requirements and local policy.
  • Contribute to service learning and development as part of a reflective and supportive team environment.
  • Have a good understanding of public law work, including the types of orders the court may make (e.g. Care Orders, Supervision Order, SGO and Placement Orders), and how these impact children and families.
  • Have a good understanding of permanency planning and timely decision making within proceedings to achieve good outcomes and stability for our children.
  • Experience of completing holistic assessments and making and delivering recommendations from reports to inform child protection planning.

Experience of court work is highly desirable, but full training and professional support will be provided.
