Join Our Adult Social Care Team, Make a Real Difference Every Day

South Tyneside Council is on an exciting journey of transformation, and we want Social Care Practitioners like you to be part of it.

Following positive changes across our services we are recruiting Social Care Practitioners to join our Wellbeing Team.

Whether you're building your experience in adult social care or looking for your next step, this is a rewarding opportunity to develop your practice, make meaningful connections, and support people to live well and independently.

You’ll be joining a forward-thinking local authority that is investing in its people, its services, and its communities.

Wellbeing Team – Promoting Independence and Strength-Based Practice

Be an advocate for independence, delivering holistic, strengths-based support to adults in the community. You’ll work with individuals to review their needs and outcomes, promote wellbeing and independence, and empower individuals to live safely and well. Build strong local networks and become a trusted presence in people’s lives.

In this role, you will:
  • Work alongside adults to complete strengths-based reviews, focusing on what matters most to them
  • Support people to maintain independence, improve wellbeing, and build on their existing strengths and networks
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and partner agencies
  • Promote community connections and access to local support

You will play a vital role in helping people remain independent and live fulfilling lives in their own communities.

What You’ll Gain
  • Experience in strengths-based and person-led practice
  • Development of safeguarding knowledge and risk management
  • Opportunities to build skills in reviewing care and support arrangements
  • The chance to work collaboratively across a range of services and partners
  • A strong sense of purpose through improving outcomes for local people
  • Support from an established and welcoming team

Living Better Lives Strategy

As part of our transformation, South Tyneside Council’s Living Better Lives Strategy (2022–2026) sets out a bold vision for adult social care, enabling people to live well, independently, and with dignity in the place they call home.

The strategy focuses on:
  • Strengths-based, person-led approaches that empower individuals to shape their own support
  • Inclusive, community-driven services that foster connection and wellbeing
  • Co-production and collaboration with people, their families, and professionals
  • A skilled and supported workforce at the heart of high-quality care

Why Join South Tyneside?

We’re proud of our strong PROUD values, collaborative culture, and commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

As a Social Care Practitioner, you will:
  • Work as part of multi-disciplinary teams that put people at the heart of everything
  • Access excellent training, development, and progression opportunities
  • Benefit from flexible and hybrid working to support work-life balance
  • Receive regular supervision and reflective practice support
  • Help shape services that are responsive, innovative, and inclusive

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking motivated and compassionate Social Care Practitioners who are:
  • Passionate about strengths-based, person-led approaches
  • Confident in supporting people’s wellbeing and independence
  • Skilled in building relationships and working collaboratively
  • Open to learning, development, and contributing to service improvement

Experience in adult social care or a related field is desirable, but we are equally keen to hear from individuals with the right values and commitment.
