
Senior Technician
Working within the Highways Team to assist in the delivery of traffic management, accident investigation, traffic regulation orders and other general measures to improve the safety and efficiency of the highway network.

As a Senior Technician, you will play a key role in keeping our city moving safely and efficiently. This is a fantastic opportunity to support our Traffic Management and Road Safety teams in delivering high‑quality, customer‑focused services.
In this role, you will:
- Assist with investigations and responses to enquiries from MPs, Councillors, the public and partner organisations
- Help develop solutions to traffic, road safety and wider highway issues
- Support accident data analysis and the design of measures to reduce collisions. Contribute to the management of the MVAS speed compliance programme
- Assist with coordinating works on the highway to minimise disruption •
- Carry out site inspections, signage and lining audits, and road safety audits •
- Support delivery of the Local Network Improvement Plan •
- Work with planning and development teams to ensure safe, high‑quality highway designs
- Prepare technical reports, plans and documentation •
- Engage with communities, Members and stakeholders to promote a customer‑focused service
- You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners, including National Highways, Transport for West Midlands, public transport operators and emergency services.

Salary range
- £28,598 - £34,434 per year
