Bromsgrove Short Breaks Service provides a safe, nurturing and fun environment where children and young people with complex health, physical and learning disabilities across Worcestershire can enjoy a short break away from home.

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Residential Support Worker who has the knowledge and skills in working with children and young people. Do you have strong team work and communication skills to join our established residential short break service? This is more than a job its a chance to be a positive energy in a child's life.

You will be ambitious for our young people in helping them to achieve their goals and optimise their potential. You will work directly with young people, while building effective relationships with their families and other professionals. You will ensure the implementation of opportunities for young people to access diffrerent activities and that young people are comprehensively supported whilst offering a high standard of care.

You will help the Manager and Assistant Manager in the day to day operations of the home to ensure it runs smoothly and meets all safeguarding and regulatory standards. The Senior Residential Support Worker will support the administering, overseeing and monitoring of the work and performance of the team, including effective regular individual supervision.

We are an established and supportive team who really do make a difference to the lives of young people in Worcestershire and we recognise the importance of training and developing the staff who deliver services for children and young people. You will be committed to learning and professional development and be flexible to work shifts, evenings, weekend and sleep-ins (additional payment).

As well as your experience of working with children with disabilities and suspervisory skills there are some things we require of you to be successfully appointed to this post:

  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) or an equivalent qualification There is opportunity to complete the Level 4 Apprenticeship Children, Young People and Families Practitioner within two years of commencing employment at the home if appropriate
  • DBS clearance
  • safer recruitment safeguarding checks
