Senior Occupational Therapist

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join Peterborough City Council's Adult Social Care Therapy Services as a Grade 12 Senior Occupational Therapist. A Grade 12 adults Occupational Therapy post has not been available within the Adults Occupational Therapy service for over 16 years, making this a unique opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is ready to develop their senior clinical practice, influence service delivery and make a meaningful difference to adults and carers across Peterborough.

All about the Role

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will work as an autonomous practitioner, managing complex and highly complex cases and delivering high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions. This will include specialist functional assessment, moving and handling, equipment provision, minor and major adaptations, housing-related recommendations and Disabled Facilities Grant work where appropriate.

This role offers the chance to shape practice, share expertise and contribute to the ongoing development of adult occupational therapy in Peterborough. You will have opportunities to lead on agreed areas of specialist interest, support colleagues with complex decision-making, contribute to continuous improvement and help ensure adults receive timely, proportionate and creative support that promotes independence and wellbeing.

You will be joining a knowledgeable, supportive and forward-thinking Therapy Services team within Adult Social Care. The team works closely with adults, carers, families, housing colleagues, health partners, reablement, voluntary sector services and wider council teams to improve outcomes and help people live as independently and safely as possible.

All about You

You will be an experienced, confident and values-led HCPC registered Occupational Therapist who is passionate about the difference occupational therapy can make in adult social care. You will bring strong clinical reasoning, sound professional judgement and a person-centred approach to working with adults with complex physical, neurological, cognitive, mental health, palliative and long-term conditions.

You will be motivated by variety, complexity and the opportunity to support people to maintain independence, choice and control in their own homes and communities. We are looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving, partnership working and supporting others to grow, whether that is through informal guidance, supervision, shared learning or contributing to service improvement.

• Experienced and confident in applying occupational therapy skills within adult social care.

• Able to work with complexity, risk and changing circumstances while maintaining professional judgement.

Please note this role is working in the community, therefore holding a valid UK driving license and having a car available for work is essential.
