Birches First School are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to provide SEND support for children with special educational needs at our welcoming First school. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to childrens learning and development within our supportive school community, part of Codsall Multi Academy Trust.

Salary Grade 4, Point 5 25,989 FTE

Hourly rate: 13.92 Per Hour

Hours Monday to Friday 8.30am 12.00pm 17.5 hours per week

Contract End Date 31.08.2027

Start Date ASAP

About the Role

As a 1 to 1 Small group Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support children's learning and development through engaging, activities that inspire curiosity and creativity
  • Work collaboratively with our experienced team to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment
  • Help children develop their social, emotional, and academic skills
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure the pupil thrives
  • Contribute to planning and assessment to meet individual childrens needs
  • Follow recommendations from educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, or other professionals.
  • Provide feedback to teachers, SENDCo, and parents where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and support provided.
  • Liaise effectively with class teachers, SENDCo, therapists, and parents.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • L2 TA standards or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Ability to adapt learning and planning to meet a childs specific needs
  • Skills in assessment and recording progress
  • Willingness to undertake personal care needs if required
  • Excellent communication skills with children, parents, colleagues and external agencies
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with teachers, SENCo and outside agencies
  • Experience of managing SEND related behaviours
  • Understanding of ASD and its effects on behaviour and communication
  • Commitment to supporting families and building strong home school partnerships
  • Dedication to continuous professional development

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent
