We are recruiting Residential Child Care Workersat Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 hours
Contract Type: 6 x Full Time, Permanent

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £28,598 - £31,022 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Children’s residential services are expanding in line with Welsh Government expectations for not‑for‑profit provision. Caerphilly is increasing the number of residential homes, and we must ensure that each home is staffed appropriately to meet CIW requirements. Every home will provide 24/7 care, with residential care staff on duty at all times. Larger homes will operate with three staff members per shift, while smaller homes will have two staff members per shift.

We are seeking enthusiastic, nurturing hands-on people who have experience working with complex and challenging behaviours. Successful candidates will work in a multi-agency manner to support and promote the welfare and needs of young people with a high level of complex needs.

We would like to recruit staff who have the right values, motivation and commitment to work in this rewarding yet challenging role.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or the ability and commitment to work towards Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
  • An understanding of the issues that affect Young People.
  • A Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence to drive a Council vehicle to transport children, young people on a regular basis

The Social Care Wales (Registration) Rules 2023 set out the requirement for all residential childcare workers, domiciliary care workers, adult care home workers, residential family centre workers to be registered with Social Care Wales within six months from your start date in post.

The Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes state that individuals providing care must be at least 18 years old and must be at least 4 years older than the oldest child accommodated. This is a protected characteristic under the occupational requirement of the post in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
