Job introduction
Job title: Registered Manager - New Children's Home with Assertive Outreach Program
A bit about us:
Liverpool is home to vibrant, energetic, and engaged communities, people who take real ownership of their local area and are passionate about making our city a better place. We've got ambitious targets to meet by 2025 and we need people who are driven, dynamic and ready to deliver the very best for our communities. Public service is more important than ever, and this role represents a real opportunity to make a difference to our communities by transforming the way we work and placing our residents at the heart of everything we do.
Working at Liverpool City Council provides an opportunity to contribute to your community and make a positive impact on the lives of residents. Our values shape how we work to deliver public services, and how we communicate with the residents we serve. We care about the best outcomes for local people, through our public services.
We are proud of our world-famous thriving city with its rich culture, as well as affordable housing, good schools, beautiful green spaces – there’s really something for everyone!
Our Practice Model – “Our City, Our Children, Together” – was chosen by colleagues, parents and carers, children, and young people to reflect our collective commitment to working collaboratively, it is more than just a practice model, it is a shared vision. Every part of this model has been co-produced with the people who access and deliver our services. It represents our values, our relationships, and our belief that, by working together, we can create the best outcomes for children, young people, and their networks. This is a model we can be proud of and one that truly belongs to all of us.
The Role:
We have made a significant investment in developing our own children’s homes, with our third home opening in early 2026 to specialise in supporting children and young people who are on the edge of care. This new home will form a critical part of our Edge of Care Strategy and follows the model of the ‘No Wrong Door.' The team will support children to remain at home whilst providing planned interventions, providing a combined residential and assertive outreach support to children and their families. The Registered Manager has the exciting opportunity to develop and shape this new service.
Having our own children’s homes will allow our children and young people the opportunity to remain living in their home city, ensuring that they can maintain relationships with family and friends and avoid unnecessary disruption in education/training.
This is a truly unique opportunity to build and develop a strong team to work collaboratively with children and their families to promote their relationships to reduce and manage risks that they are exposed to. This approach will enable our children and young people to flourish and reach their full potential.
- As the Children’s Registered Manager, you will be responsible to manage, develop and lead the children’s home day to day to deliver the highest level of care and support to our children and young people, focusing on improving outcomes for every individual
- As a Registered Manager, you will hold NVQ Level 5 Leadership & Management for children’s residential childcare or a willingness to achieve this. You will have extensive experience within a Children’s Residential Home having previously been a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager
- In the role of Registered Manager, you will be confident to ensure that the home meets its statutory obligations to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people complying with all legislation, statutory guidance, policies and procedures
- You will embed and maintain a high-performance culture by supporting your team to continually develop their skills so they can achieve the best outcomes. Through regular reflective supervision with your team, you’ll champion their personal and professional growth and health and wellbeing, ensuring an inclusive approach
- Alongside your role as a people manager, you will provide clear oversight of all children and young people, ensuring quality standards are maintained, championing good practice to reduce risks, build on strengths and achieve consistent positive outcomes together
